河樺樹飯店(River Birches Lodge)

We stayed one night in the Cottage. The cottage is wonderful. It was configured for three bedrooms. Beautiful cottage with tons of space and comfortable beds. Right next to the river walking trail and fly fishing. They left us a stocked refrigerator for breakfast and the service was just wonderful.

We visited from Auckland for a weekend fishing. The accommodation and fishing is absolutely first class and the hosts are very generous with their time and hospitality. We stayed in The Cottage which is a luxuriously appointed, fully self contained house right next to the lodge. All in all a wonderful weekend getaway and I look forward to when we can visit again.

I booked this hotel months in advance with Amex and pre-paid the reservations. Our reason for booking this hotel was their expertise in guiding across the Tongariro Crossing. Spoke to the owner months in advance about the trip, guide, equipment etc. Was literally notified by the owner as we were boarding our plane to New Zealand that there was no guide available to make the crossing after months of having this planned. Tried to get a refund on the property but was told no and only got a partial refund. I understand this is a great property but be careful on booking policies and guide availability.

We enjoyed three nights here while in the area to hike the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Our stay exceeded expectations in every way. The location is very convenient to the hike (I went independently but the hosts have options if you want a more guided experience). I also hiked the entire Tongariro River Trail which is immediately adjacent to the property. We stayed in the lovely Admirals suite and its hot tub was wonderful after the long hike. Unexpectedly, my husband was ill during our stay and remained behind at the inn while I ventured out. Jason and Rebeca were super accommodating given the unfortunate circumstances, from bringing meals to our room to making ginger tea to soothe the patient. Very caring and willing to go above and beyond. Food was abundant and delicious. Grounds are lovely. Recommend!

This is another lovely lodge with fantastic hosts but, to be honest, it is crazily expensive. Our room was very nice and private but the other rooms were not very private, with people walking passed your French windows all the time. It is beautifully decorated and very peaceful. The gardens are fabulous and the breakfast was great.

We were only there for a night & were upgraded from a room in the lodge, to the cottage, due to Cyclone Gabrielle which was just beautiful. Luckily Jason was able to get a booking for dinner that night at The Hare & Copper Eatery plus transport which was a great recommend, although the cottage had full cooking facilities. Just loved the design of the lodge & cottage!

The only disappoin**ent was the fact that we were staying only one night. This is an absolutely gorgeous property with truly luxurious features and amenities. We were upgraded to the ‘Major’ room as we happened to be the only guests that night. It was beautiful with comfy bed, private deck and hot tub and garden views. Hosts Rebecca and Jason were wonderful and gave great tips for food and hikes. Breakfast was first class and everything was so fresh. Will definitely recommend to friends visiting the area

What a wonderful relaxing oasis. We drove 4 hours from Wellington managing the other side of the road and were a little road weary when we rolled in. Jason and Rebecca took care of that with a luxurious well appointed lodge. This intimate (3 room) lodge was exact what we needed to unwind and relax from the city & the drive. The breakfasts were elegant and the coffee beans were roasted by a neighbor. The best shower of the trip. As wonderful as the facility was Jason & Rebecca were the frosting on the cake. They are personable, professional excellent inn keepers & people. Five star for sure
