Reception was excellent, professional and prompt. Breakfast dining room staff warm, friendly, welcoming and efficient breakfast good.
We were allocated room 23 in the mews the wall tiles near the tap end of the bath and the wall would benefit from having HG mould remover used on them, other than that room was adequate we have previously stayed in the hotel so are ware of the quality of rooms in the main building.
We reserved a table for a bar meal upon our arrival for 18:15, table was clearly marked with time and name, we sat at out table prior to the agreed time, about 15minutes later a party of approximately ten guests arrived at another table, I had booked in at the bar and was told someone would see to me in a few minutes. The party of ten were seen to immediately up to three staff involved in their service, an hour later 19:15 we had still received no service so went elsewhere for a meal. I readily accept hospitality has issues with staffing but cannot accept that a party of guests arrived after us and were dealt with immediately whilst we were completely ignored, it did not help that this was my wife’s 60th birthday. I raised the matter with the assistant manager who apologised citing new staff and that the other guests had pre-ordered their food.
