I had a horrible experience staying at the Extended Stay America Tampa - Brandon East property. I had a single night reservation for 2/16/2024. When I checked in at 11pm, I was told by the receptionist that they have run out of room/access key cards. She said that in lieu of the card, one of their staff would use their card to let me in my room. I have never encountered a situation like this where the hotel guest with a prepaid reservation was denied his/her room access key card.
I was assigned room number 428.
I clearly told the staff that I would need to take my dogs out once before I sleep and did not want to get locked out of my room at that time. He ensured me that the front desk is a 24x7 service and he will be there to bring me back to my room.
To my dismay, when I came downstairs there was NOBODY their and thus I was locked out. I kept ringing the front desk bell but with no success. Stranded outside with my dogs at past 1am, the only option I had was to call the Extended Stay customer service number from the landline phone on the wall of the property. Over the period of ~90 minutes that I was locked out of my room, I called the customer service two times out of desperation. Both the customer service agents did their best (particularly the lady named Zelga) to reach the hotel staff/management over and over again but to no avail.
I ultimately resigned to my fate and waited at the lobby till the receptionist showed up.
I need to be compensated for my suffering.
