Convenient location and nice clean, spacious rooms

Long story short, we booked a 3 night stay at Truckee Donner Lodge. A few days before the trip, the national weather service issued a no-travel recommendation for the Sierras. When the warning was issued we tried to call the hotel to see our options. The reservation was "non-refundable", but hoped there was something they could do as the circumstances were extreme. We tried to call the hotel 10+ times, but no-one answered the phone. We did end up trying to drive to the hotel, but the I-80 was closed and it was impossible to get there. Having called 20+ times with no answer and sent emails to two different email addresses, we never heard back from the hotel. The only communication we got was the charge on our credit card for all 3 nights, and an automated email with the following message: "It was our pleasure having you as a guest at the Truckee Donner Lodge. We hope you enjoyed our property and will let us know about your stay. Your comments are very important to us. We strive to provide warm and personal service to all of our guests and greatly appreciate your recommendations".

Great location, cute spot, bathroom finishes show a little wear and tear but felt clean and fine overall. Super disappointed that the hot tub is closed for repairs and apparently has been offline for months. After skiing it would have made a huge difference. We would stay again but we’d make sure the hot tub is back in operation before booking!

I booked through *******. ******* requested over 72 hours before my check in date for The Truckee Donner Lodge to give me a refund because I wasn’t able to travel due to treacherous weather conditions. They denied it and I had to pay despite being unable to go.

My only frustration with this property is that prior to my trip when I called with a question I was unable to reach a live person. I got stuck in the same recording loop saying based on my responses to the automated questions to which I would push a button on the phone, I was directed to call the hotel directly. I called two different numbers for the hotel and neither took me beyond the recording. Upon arriving at the property all of that paled as the staff were wonderfully personable and helpful, my room was spacious, quiet and had a lovely view of the river and mountains beyond and the breakfast was varied and filling. I especially liked the selection of bigelow teas and hot water available at all times.

Truckee Donner Lodge is, without a doubt, the most pleasantly surprising hotel I've ever stayed at. Recommended by a friend, I was initially skeptical about its 3-star rating. However, I was quickly proven wrong. The rooms at Truckee Donner Lodge are incredibly spacious, featuring comfortable desks and sofas, not to mention the convenience of having both a microwave oven and a refrigerator. The daily housekeeping service is impeccable, ensuring a clean and welcoming environment throughout our stay. What truly sets this lodge apart is its complimentary breakfast. The waffles and sausages were a hit with the kids, making our mornings delightful. The hotel also boasts a pool and a cozy space filled with computers, books, magazines, newspapers, and toys for children. It embodies the saying, 'Though small, it has everything one could need.' The front desk staff, especially Alex, were outstanding. Alex was incredibly nice and supportive, catering to almost all our requests with a smile. The lobby's spaciousness, complemented by a comforting fireplace, adds to the lodge's charm. The availability of free drinks in the lobby was the cherry on top. Alex told and guided us everything about the lodge. In my eyes, Truckee Donner Lodge deserves more than a 4-star rating. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable stay. This lodge isn't just a place to sleep; it's a place that feels like home.

I had a great nights stay after a full day of snowboarding, bed was comfy and sheer was great! Would stay here again
