Seriously, avoid this property. I am surprised it hasn't been closed down by the council. I always try and be balanced when I'm doing a review, but this was a tough one to come up with something without sounding like I was being malevolent. Staff are surly and unhelpful. The $200 ”bond” is a joke - I wonder what they're afraid we'll do to the place, as any further damage could only be an improvement in its current state of disrepair. The hotel itself looks like a major battle has been fought in the corridors - and they lost. There is paint and some plaster missing everywhere, the lift button cover was held on with duct tape. Carpets in the corridor were filthy and looked warn out in places, with stains and filth ground into them. The room two doors away from me had obviously had the door kicked in at some time in the past as there is a foot sized hole almost through it (and it didn't look recent so little/no maintenence in public areas). Rooms are filthy in places (seriously, don't touch the curtains). I stayed in an ”Executive Studio”, so it was largish, but with hardly any furniture, and what was there was basic. The bed that looks like a king size in the pictures is not. It's 2 singles pushed together, which would normally be fine except the mattresses are the sort with the sewn border that sticks up above the top, meaning that pushed together there was a substantial and uncomfortable ridge running down the centre. The kitchenette is very basic. The rooms are noisy, both internally between rooms and from outside. There is a balcony, but it looks into the buildings across the lane with many boarded up windows and in poor condition as well. The balcony was dark and was dirty. 2 things that were ok are the city location and the bathroom. The bathroom looked like it was fairly recently renovated. Good shower, and clean, unlike the rest of the studio. It's now almost 3 weeks since my stay, and I still have not recieved my money back from the ”bond”. Staff never return phone calls and do not follow through on promises. I'd normally say ”you get what you pay for”, but with APX you don't even get that.
