The best hotel I've ever stayed in. Swinton Park Hotel, on the expansive, lush, Swinton Estate, is the epitome of English elegance. The facility is family-owned, with eccentric artwork and history in every room. The grounds, populated by deer, sheep, horses and an extensive aviary are right outside your window, a part of every day. The spa, again, the very best I've ever experienced. Great indoor pool, lots of soaking tubs, whirlpools, the works. The food, either in the historical dining room, or more casual outbuildings, is excellent. Our particular room had a wonderful bed, linens, pillows, towels. The staff are quietly efficient.

We booked a spa stay as an anniversary treat. The estate and castle are beautiful and we were warmly greeted and shown to our room with a little history along the way. The only part which let the stay down for us was that one of our massages had been moved due to staff sickness, which I understand can't be helped, but the first we were told of this was upon checking into the spa. This meant that both my husband and I would now be spending time on our own whilst the other received their treatment. Also some facilities were out of order/closed for maintenance which we were not previously made aware of, this included the salt steam room, the outdoor pool and the air tub/recliner in the thermal pool. All of which would have been nice to try during our stay. The spa however is also beautiful and kept super clean with robes etc provided. We ate in the Terrace restaurant and all of the food and cocktails were exquisite along with the service. Breakfast was also delicious, this time we were served in Samuel's restaurant where we had a choice of continental or cooked breakfast before checking out. I'd love to return but would check ahead regarding facilities etc to make the most of our time there.

We stayed here over two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the magic of the gorgeous castle, stunning grounds and heavenly spa. We wild swam, flew birds of prey and owls, we ate like kings and just had the most incredible time here. The food was delicious and staff couldn’t do enough for you. Mandy at the birds of prey was knowledgeable and excellent handling the birds. We loved every minute

From start to finish everything was perfect. Everyone made us feel so welcome, from the staff to our fellow guests. We had so many great conversations with such a diverse group of wonderful people. We had a complimentary room upgrade which was wonderful, we stayed for 2 nights in the Thirsk room; which was lovely, warm and comfortable. I would recommend the Champagne welcome package and late checkout, it was great to enjoy a chilled glass of champagne in our room as we got ready for dinner. We ate both nights at Samuel’s, which is in a stunningly decorated dining hall, the service was exceptional and the food was delicious. Breakfast both days was also at Samuel’s and it was really nice; great value. They have cooked and continental available and it was all good quality. I would have liked more sweet options on the menu, perhaps French toast or waffles. But that’s just nitpicking. There’s loads of activities you can join in to, we really enjoyed the cocktail tasting at the Terrace bar, where we acted as guinea pigs for new cocktail creations, it was a fun experience. The cocktails which we actually paid for were also very good. Likewise the cocktails at Samuel’s bar were also well made. The spa was amazing, I especially liked the Finnish sauna and outdoor hydrotherapy pool and hot tub. The outdoor pool is cold but just take the plunge! You will not regret it. The spa also has lovely outdoor beds, with warm blankets and a hot water bottle. Perfect to relax with a few drinks. There’s honesty just too much to say, the house itself is stunning, the grounds are gorgeous and I cannot wait to return again.

Fabulous weekend at this relaxed country hotel where nothing is too much trouble for the friendly and welcoming staff. Brilliant food and lovely spa.
