薩羅森海德賓館(The Saracens Head Hotel)

The downstairs pub was really nice and nice food and great staff, but the room was a different matter, bedding was clean but the rest of the room was dirty. I get it’s old, but no excuse for cleanliness dust around edges of carpets carpets were minging. Sink a bathroom were a mess. I wanted to approach someone on check out but there was nobody around. The place needs a good clean and a good update

It was a very disappointing meal with the family, first of all we were served drinks in dirty glasses one with lipstick marks, I will say the lady at the bar was apologetic and changed them, we then ordered food, three of us ordered from the specials menu a curry, two were fine but mine had literally 2 pieces of chicken in it was more of a curry soup, a lady walked by and asked if all was ok but didn't stay for an answer, at the end the lady who bought out are meals collected plates and she could see I hardly ate anything as it was just sauce, I told her I had two bits chicken and the response i got was unbelievable, she said yeah the curry was popular and we only had enough for two but as you ordered three we had to try and give you what's left that's why you didn't get much, she then took away the plates and that was that, no apology no offer of something else, if I hadn't nicked a few chips off someone else I would've left starving. £142 it's came to and no apology very disappointing as I hadn't seen my family for ages and this was a meal out, last time I will be going there.

Room old and in bad condition, bathroom dirty and tap leaking, no remote control for tv, asked for tea and toast at 8.45 am to be told “ we don’t do breakfast in the week “!!!!!!! Even though advertised as inclusive before 09.00

Staff and cleanliness great but a very tired old coaching inn - but very cheap! No food available but on High St with cafes etc so fine.

Stayed here for one night earlier this year and I really am conflicted. On one hand, the rooms are dated. dated to the point the wallpaper is peeling, stains on the carpet, rust on the metal fittings in the bathrooms and the beds not comfortable. I really didn't get a great sleep so it was lucky i left early in the morning anyway. On the other hand, step into the pub and you have a great little local pub with lovely staff, a good a**osphere and some really nice local beers. The pub on it's own would get a much higher score but it is really let down by its rooms. Come here for the beers, but not for the sleep

This visit was far more disappointing than the previous stay at the Saracens Head due mainly being allocated room 4. Room four is a first floor double ensuite which has a comfortable bed with nice linen, pillows, and duvet, however, the room requires redecoration and some maintenance with a hole in the ceiling above the bed where the surrounding paint has peeling away. Cleanliness was ok but could be improved. The room also looks out over the covered courtyard seating area at the rear of the pub which punters are permitted to drink in until closing time as a result sleep is impossible to sleep until the pub closes which can be after midnight, ok if you are not trying get an early night prior to an interview in the morning as was the case with myself. Location in the centre of the village of Highworth is excellent for local shops, bars, and restaurants; public transport links are limited to a direct bus from Swindon central bus station running every 15 minutes throughout the day and stops close to the hotel. The hotel has a large car park. The Saracens offers excellent value for money, I would just request a quiet room when booking if you require an early night.

Well what can I say the Meal our family had today ws not enjoyable at the least we ordered 3 meal 1 was correct the others was wrong asked for cheese and tomato pizza got a baguette with tomato base and cheese on top as for extra stuff never received it kids nuggets was like rubber and the apple pie was cold and the custard was warm not even hot

Stayed over night the place is very tired and dirty , we had a double room of which clearly needed some attention, although the bed was comfortable and clean the rest of the room was not . The bed was propped up on two bits of fire wood clearly because the room sloped very unsafe way of fixing the problem , hall stairs and landing area carpet grubby and thread bare , sadly a place that needs attention in the accomadation part all the work seems to have been concentrated in the food and drink depar**ent

Room was very 'tired' and could do with a thorough clean and lick of paint. Take out the rusty towel rail and sort the drains too as the bathroom did smell very bad. Linen and towels were clean and hot water plentiful. Bed comfy. First night dinner excellent. Disappointed to be told there's no food served on Sunday nights or Monday mornings. It would have been good to know this before arriving for dinner!
