The hotel is small but since it was a nearby hotel to my relatives in Sutton Coldfield. However, overall the hotel is not bad and quiet, the restaurant provides a wide variety of British brewage

We’ve stayed here before. On paper it is a good base to use when we are visiting friends. This time, we were slightly taken aback at the cost of our family room. We usually view it as a cheap and cheerful option. This time it was neither. Next time we’ll spend a little more elsewhere, for a far more comfortable experience. One additional issue was the fire alarm going off in the early hours requiring us to gather in our nightwear in the car park. The night manager handled it superbly but it took forever. Loads of people vaping and smoking around us. No fire found but probable smoking/vaping in the rooms was mentioned as a possible cause. Early the next morning, the gardens were being cleared by an exceptionally noisy leaf blower; sleep and rest had totally evaded us by this time. The night staff aside, the whole offering is sloppy. The carpark is a mass of potholes, booking in took forever as the member of staff was having a lengthy telephone conversation and we have learnt to avoid the risible breakfast. Avoid: there are much better ways to spend your money and your night!

We were in room 6 on the ground floor. It’s an accessible room with a low bath. The room could do with a freshen up. Basic cleanliness was ok. It would benefit from a deeper clean, grout redoing etc. We had breakfast in the adjoining pub, which was very poor. Despite the information saying breakfast was open until 11am, the sign in the door said last orders for cooked items was 9.20am. The continental section was cleared away at 10am. Sausages were cheap and had been deep fried. Bacon was barely cooked. Fried eggs dripping in oil with solid yolks. Fresh tomatoes barely warm, certainly not cooked. All served on cold plates. The staff were really lovely. Couldn’t fault them at all.
