Let's start with a positive, this venue is picturesque (when the tide is in) and quiet, perfect if you don't have children and don't mind driving. We were greeted by pleasant staff and shown to our room but no helpful advice was given on arrival about the area, favilites, do's and dont's. The room was large, adequate but requires modernisation. The bathroom needs a window that opens or an extractor fan and we found the condensation build up on the floor made everything wet. The tiles were grubby and mildew has not been cleaned. Shower pressure was good. We liked the fact we had fresh milk everyday put in our fridge and the tea, coffee and water was replenished, however, wrapping everything in clingfilm, including the tea cups was somewhat odd. TV, iron and ironing board provided. Our main issues with this property were that it is miles from anywhere so if you want to eat you have to book in advance (we were there 3 nights and only told this on night 3) and the bar closes whenever they feel like it, even though the closing time states 11pm on the door! If you want a drink and to enjoy the quay after 9.30pm, you'll have to drive to the supermarket in Hayle and buy your own because tbey won't accommodate you. The two bistro/restaurants nearby kitchens close at 8.30pm so you will also be unable to eat after this time, despite advertising late closing. Not great when you are on holiday and want a slower pace of life. Be prepared to drive everywhere. We resorted to a take away domino's pizza in our room on our last night. Finally, the instructions for departure are to leave your room key on the desk and put a sign that says 'make up room' on the door. Since we paid in advance we felt this was a deliberate ploy to ensure we couldn't complain or provide any negative feedback prior to leaving. Sadly, won't be staying again, if you want a relaxed holiday where you can eat and drink at your leisure, would strongly suggest St Ives itself.
