We were put in a room called the Bunker, it was like a very poor student accommodation. They moved us to another very poor room (both costing +£180 per night). The second room was dirty and uncared for, the hotel facilities were terrible, the bedroom has been furnished with old charity shop shabby furniture, the bathroom was ancient and unclean. The room was so poor that we packed and left after the first night to find somewhere liveable, and lost our payment for the second night plus breakfast into the bargain. The pics on the website did not resemble the reality when we got into the rooms.
Our advice is avoid this hotel at all costs, this is an example of a St.Andrews trader ripping the tourists off. Who actually visits these hotels and views all of the rooms and then rates them, and then allows them to rent out to tourists at extortionate rates? We stayed in another 4 hotels and guest houses as part of our tour, all substantially cheaper and of much higher quality than this place.
St.Andrews, however, is lovely place and definitely worth visiting, but just watch where you book yourself into, this experience spoiled our staycation.
