My wife and I stayed here for my sister in law's 80th birthday. Upon arrival, the welcome was warm and friendly and we were shown to a pleasant room on the ground floor with a large shower room. So far so good. After unpacking our car, however, we were soon aware that the toilet was very unpleasantly smelly - an odour that was to prevail for the two nights of our stay On the first evening of our visit, we had dinner in the dining room with my sister in law. The food was pleasant enough but not very special. Next morning for breakfast we had another quite ordinary meal which I wouldn't rate particularly highly. On the evening of the celebrations themselves we were all shown into a private room for yet another very mediocre meal. I had what was called a tomato salad to start with which consisted of three slices of mediocre tomatoes and a slice of water melon. Next came the main course of sea bass and some fries and then, to finish I was ragailed with some tinned peaches and yogurt. These were listed on the menu as freshly sliced. I don't think so! I noticed that another of the guests was presented with what looked like a Mr.Kipling marzipan sponge straight from the box described as a marzipan tart. The following morning (our last) breakfast was a buffet. This was the only really good meal of the whole mercifully short stay. Although the staff were friendly enough and quite helpful, I have to say I was quite glad to leave and will not be returning any time soon.
