The good - old hotel with beautiful views from garden, good free continental breakfast spread with pastries, several granola choices, meats and cheeses. Menu options reasonable (ie French Toast 6 euro, omelets are 7), delicious cappuccino , Wi-Fi worked The bad - relatively far from downtown Siena & train station (~13 Euro taxi each way), toilet paper is literally paper The ugly - horrible bedding (my back was a mess and my wife’s neck was literally spasming next day so had to cancel our plans to get her a massage), no control over room temp (was ~80F / 27C) - we arrived around 10 PM, immediately asked how we could adjust. They sent someone up to check where our remote was and saw we just had control over fan speed. They said we would need to wait until the next day so they could send engineer in who could adjust. We had a full day tour set up so I called at 3 PM to verify it was fixed and they said yes, the mechanic was in our room so it would be much cooler. Got back around 10 AM and absolutely no change. Went down to talk to manager, girl at front desk says let me see if he’s available. Has side discussion with the mgr and another staff member, I watch the manager escape out a side door, she comes back and says the manager isn’t there and there is nothing they can do as it is an old building and central air. When we check out the next morning they try charging me for a 3rd night. If comfort and staff integrity are important to you, stay away!
