Excellent location – literally minutes away from the OR Tambo airport. There is a shuttle but it is difficult to locate it. Maybe some signage would help? Once we located it we were however in the hotel in about 5 minutes. The shuttle is quite efficient. The rooms are good sized but the bathrooms are small in comparison. The room was cleaned regularly. The coffee / tea amenities were good. The room I stayed in was however dated, needs updating of the rooms. The heater in my room did not work. I just hope it works during winter. On meals, Breakfast had a good spread on the buffet, very nice. It is the best meal of the day. Lunch and Dinner was also quite good though not as good in variety unless you use the ala carte menu. I did not use the restaurants much outside the meal times or the bar so I am not able to rate these for now. The 3 stars are largely due to the staff. Staff are generally slow, have a poor attitude and look like they have been forced to work. This was especially at the reception and in the dining. You really need friendlier staff at the reception! A good number of times staff paid more attention to speaking with their colleagues than serving guests. I would be in the middle of something with a staff member but another staff member comes to them speaking in their language and you have to wait. It happened to me too often for comfort. Never seen this anywhere else I’ve travelled. A few times they were also speaking across the room. We however met some lovely staff – a gentleman called Trust and a mature lady who was doing our eggs at breakfast, I forgot her name. Do not expect too much but it is an excellent location if having an early flight.
I have a major criticism about the hotel, you can't find it! For future visitors, go out the airport's main entrance, ignore all the people trying to get you in a paid taxi, walk towards the Intercontinental hotel until you see signs for the bus terminal. Look for the hotel's timings board, it goes every half hour, The shuttle bus driver took all my heavy luggage and I didn't see it again until it was in my room. My room was spacious and welcoming with excellently crisp bedsheets. The bathtub was oddly comfortable despite its deep, long, slim design. Downsides; very small television, tiny towels, blackout curtains do not cover the windows making them ineffectual.
This small guesthouse ticked all my boxes - clean, quiet, comfortable, and close to the international airport with a complimentary shuttle service. Also nice hot showers, good wi-fi connection, and bedside lighting for reading when you just can't sleep. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is not extensive, but there is plenty of fresh fruit, hot dishes (including eggs to order), some pastries, yoghurt, etc. They also serve dinners on site so there is no need to hunt down something off the premises when you are using Sunrock as your overnight before or after a flight. The grounds are delightful with lots of interesting artwork - mosaics, mobiles, statues.
I thought the place was nice, but to be honest the blankets on the bed and in the cupboard annoyed me with static electricity. The shower water came out way too fast. But everything else was great and the people are very nice.
訪訪客用戶We had a wonderful stay last weekend at Schoon Huis Manor. Dominique was an absolute delight to deal with during the booking process, she also helped us with a dinner reservation and airport transfer bookings. Ryan was our host and a great one at that. We had early starts and late nights and he was always there to great us on arrival and departure. We found all staff to be friendly and efficient. The guesthouse itself is very unique, it's so exciting looking around each new area and room. Just beautiful. We loved our stay and would highly recommend.
訪訪客2nd time here while waiting for a late night flight. Short drive to airport so for distance it's a 5. Both times the hotel was clean but unfortunately both times the kitchen didn't deliver! There was either no buns (1st time) or patties (2nd time) for burgers or no bread for toasted sandwiches( 2nd time and no chips so they substituted with onion rings...ice cold and the patty for steak but it was slobbish and unappetising. And quite a wait! The front desk desk are always nice whether on the phone or in person so 5 for them also. Oh...and there was a lot of noise; admittedly it was during the day but I wanted to get a snooze in because I'd not slept the previous night and was traveling. A shout out for the taxi driver they make use of....very reliable and trustworthy.
訪訪客用戶I stayed overnight prior to a flight. The room was fine, clean, well equipped, TV had English stations and bed comfy. Breakfast was varied (and very busy!) My issue is the ducted air system. Despite having the AC, fan etc off, the system still blows out air and I found it difficult to sleep as a result as very drying. In the morning, my throat, eyes, mouth and skin were very dry which is unhealthy and unacceptable. My throat and eyes are still uncomfortable and dry a day later despite drinking lots of water and buying saline eye drops.
Convenient to the airport. Helpful staff. Great breakfast. No dinner restaurant, but you can order in, and staff will plate it and serve you at a nice table with drinks. Comfortable beds and rooms. Shuttle service arranged efficiently, as they have lots of experience with airport customers. Nice pool, too, though it was winter and too cold to use it. Pleasant gardens for a stroll, plus its next door to a park with a lake.
GGurdeepThis hotel is located just outside O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. While you will need a taxi, rental car, or shuttle to reach the hotel, the journey is well worth it. There are no nearby dining facilities within walking distance, but the hotel boasts an on-site Irish pub that serves excellent food. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the breakfast is outstanding. The hotel is fully gated with security measures in place, providing peace of mind during your stay in Johannesburg.
My husband and I had an excellent overnight stay here on our way to Nelspruit the next morning. The shuttle was prompt, the breakfast convenient. I seem to remember only beer in the honour bar that night? However, our quarters were very suitable and put us in the mood for Kruger Park the following day! We have fond memories and photos of this lodging! AS I am meeting a friend in the RSA next week I booked us two rooms here overnight before heading out once again to Nelspruit. If my return flight had not left from Joburg at a good hour I would stay again before my flight home. We must have come in after the supper hour; I may miss again this trip, unfortunately.
