We found the staff so helpful and answered all our questions,Housekeeping was good, and efficient. The staff cooking at the egg station in the morning were always ready to do what you asked. Camilio (sorry if I got your name wrong)couldn't have be more helpful and answered all our questions. Thanks for a lovely time in your country.
This is based on two stays / two rooms a week apart. This hotel is substantially better than the one at the airport. Bed was comfortable and a/c is strong. Wifi good throughout the hotel. Water pressure excellent, although the water smells so chlorinated as to be pool water. The room was clean, but they need to change their mopping chemicals. There is a slippery residue throughout the room which is really noticeable if your feet are wet. Breakfast was a travesty. Buffet with no alternative. Scrambled eggs, toast, very few pastries, fruit, and cereal. That’s it. Coffee machine wasn’t working (gasp). It was free, though, maybe. The staff wasn’t actually sure. Transfer from the airport is on request and free. Send flight details ahead of time and your driver will arrange pickup via WhatsApp. Transfer back is only on the hour, but you can pay $20 for your own five minute taxi if you want. Reception staff speaks English. But no one else did (including restaurant / bar staff). The hotel doesn’t accept any cash payments. The price is reasonable and offsets the above problems. I would stay here again for a layover. The hotel is not suitable for a city visit.
This is when you wished you would have spent the time to do a little more homework than TA reviews… Pros: responsive and pleasant customer service, tasty lunch in the restaurant (the chicken stew, black bean stew and ceviche were delicious). Also, The sauna was very warm and cold water was provided when I rented the sauna for $10. The room was large and nice. Opportunities…the worst- at 2:30am, the lighting above our bed turned on and it could not be shut off. It took maintenance 15 minutes to determine how to shut down the whole system until the morning. It was especially painful later to have the hotel charge us $2 for a cup of coffee in the room, for the nicest room in the hotel when we were inconvenienced in the middle of the night. ??? The gym had a lot of useful equipment but it is no spa or gym really. It’s a small room with rusty weights. The team was very friendly but the gym is unacceptable for a hotel deemed 5 star????!!!! Massages were done by nice people and they were value priced for sure, but it was more like a body rub on a hard table with a rough towel to cover you. And finally, not the hotels fault assuredly, but if you are looking for a charming area to stay and visit in Santiago, to walk to cafes or shops, this is not it.
The hotel is in a very good location. With many good places to eat within a few blocks and several good sites within walking distance. It takes a very short safe walk to Costanera tower and there's a nice park a few minutes away that will take you on a gondola ride to the statue of the Virgin Mary with beautiful views, from there you can take a funicular to visit Pablo Neruda museum, worth a visit. The hotel has a rooftop pool and bar with fantastic views. The Solace had some fantastic and helpful folks in the lobby, Prisilla,Daniela, Arnntxa and Felipe all are so nice and helpful, they made our visit very comfortable. I thank them for their help. You cannot go wrong staying here.
訪訪客This hotel stay was arranged by Silversea following a cruise from Guayaquil to Valparaiso, with return flights from Santiago. Our room was comfortable; food, wines and service in the restaurant were generally excellent. We had a late-evening flight out of Santiago, so the hotel folks graciously let us stay in our room until 3:00 p.m. If back in Santiago, we'll definitely consider staying here again.
訪訪客I loved this hotel! The staff was really wonderful and accommodating. Juan was at the front desk each morning with a greeting of ”Good Morning Madame.” Nicolas was very helpful in arranging my stay prior to the visit, which was helpful. Every staff member was really friendly and accommodating. They served a small breakfast buffet in the main level each morning, even cooked eggs to order if you'd like. I went to this country traveling as a solo female. This was a nice location because it's walking distance to several restaurants and a lovely park. I felt completely safe in the area. My favorite was the Peruvian restaurant! I had this amazing seabass dish with scallops and calamari with a sauce on top. This was all on a bed of risotto. Chilian wine...fantastic! I wasn't familiar with this region's wine and was surprised at how good it was. My meal, paired with a lovely Chilian Sauvignon Blanc Reserve was so delicious that I went back and had the same thing the next night.
There is also a hill about a mile away that has the Christ statue, that is very walkable. There is a Japanese Garden on the hill. If you can't walk there, there is a funicular and the Uber car service worked just as it does in the US. One tip, if you're from the US or North, the maps will be backwards on Google. Just google directions to get them in the direction you're going. I got lost the first day until I did my Google search on how to fix.
The only problem I had was the language. Very few people speak English. I even went to a restaurant, fine dining at a park, quite lovely, but nobody spoke English and the menu was only in Spanish. To make matters worse, my phone died! Be prepared with how to use Google Translate, that will help, but if your phone dies, you're dead in the water. I found it very hard to communicate with people, which would not have been as bad had I not been traveling alone. I found it to be very isolating. I even took a tour with an English-speaking guide. I thought great, now I can chat with people, but NO! It was a guide who spoke Spanish, then translated to Portuguese, then English. I was the only English-speaking person on the bus. The museums, a few are only available in Spanish so no point going to those if you don't speak Spanish.
Other than the language barrier, I had a lovely time. My highlight was my hotel and the staff!
訪訪客The warmest of welcome from a great team at Ugo Hotel. The hotel is well placed in a nice area. It was modern, very light, airy and clean. Our room (334) was on the third floor facing towards what looked like residential apartments. Our only wish was that our view hadn’t been slightly obscured by a wall to another part of the hotel. The reception / lobby / bar was a good place to sit. The main light hanging above made a statement. The room itself whilst not the biggest had everything we needed for a comfortable stay (3 night) during our tour. There were two big, very comfortable beds. This combined with the pillows supplied led to 3 good nights sleep. The second bed was great for laying clothes out and packing ‘ unpacking. The WC / Shower were in the ensuite with the washbasin just outside in an area divided from the bed space by a divider and hanging space. The shower was very good although some might find the floor slippy. There wasn’t a plug in the sink (by design). This was the moment we remembered the travel plug had been left at home. This was an inconvenience when shaving and meant that more water was used than might have been had there been one. We pointed this out as a water saving idea at reception who welcomed the positive feedback. There was good air-conditioning but like most you need to leave one of the key cards in if you want it to continue working when you go out. That said from an energy saving point of view it didn’t take long to cool the room down once we returned. We did turn the AC down at night as like most installations the noise can be a bit of a pain when trying to sleep. There was a good choice of food for breakfast and a nice looking bar with a fantastic team. Not everyone spoke English but we didn’t speak any Spanish but we got by just fine. We had some great Chilean wine and loved the Pisco Sour. Thanks to Laos Silizar for giving me his recipe. There is an enclosed garden area at the back close to the bar with a variety of seating among greenery and to one end a pool. The lifts were quick and we never had to wait more than a few seconds for one. There were two ice cream shops within seconds of the main entrance and a number of nice restaurants. The tallest building in Latin America Sky Costanera was only about a 10 minute walk away. By virtue of its height it has the highest viewing platform in Santiago, from where the 360 degree panoramic view from the 61st and 62nd floors including The Andes is exceptional. Beneath this is a very big shopping centre containing many restaurants of all sorts. We went our for a walk each evening in the direction of the adjoining residential. There were some nice apartment blocks / homes. The area was well lit and felt safe. To summarise we enjoyed staying at Ugo Hotel very much. All of the staff were fantastic. Postscript: Having left Santiago to visit Atacama we returned to Santiago and had a night in an airport hotel before flying home. Rather than stay within the conf
訪訪客用戶Amazing hotel right in the heart of town, walking distance to the restaurants, parks and city center. The rooms are on the smaller side but it wasn’t a problem at all. We’ve enjoyed the view from the pool, their wine bar and restaurant and cozy lounge with free coffee and delicious desserts. Everyone in our party staying in Santiago longer have extended their stay. Definitely staying here again when back to Santiago.
訪訪客excelente servicio, personal muy servicial y amable. Observación aparte para Doris por su hospitalidad y buena atención y actitud. La comida estaba muy rica. Muy buena atención, con mi mamá quedamos fascinadas con la hospitalidad 😍
The room was lovely and clean. The personnel was warm and welcoming, speaking to us in Spanish (as per our wish) despite our limitations. When we found ourselves stumped, the non-English speakers would whip out their phones to find a translation and help us. Much to do just walking around the neighbourhood. Warned about possible pick-pockets we acted accordingly and had no mishaps of any kind. Santiagans were helpful and friendly everywhere we went. We had a pleasant time. The only glitches were the changing of our towels, despite the Echo-friendly sign and instructions (hang up towels not to be changed daily) and an unglued grid in the washroom that was a tripping hazard and left the room less inviting. Both were addressed promptly and with a smile.
