獅子與山雞飯店(Lion & Pheasant Hotel)

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The building was beautiful and the room very pleasant to look at. Sadly, the noise was so bad that my husband and I had very little sleep at all. There was a constant dripping sound and the traffic noise was bad. The guests in the room above ours were incredibly loud and sounded as though they were throwing things around. We do appreciate that the hotel cannot control this but maybe a thought for the future would be looking at some sort of soundproofing. Also, the television was set to the left of the bed which meant that after a time both of our necks were aching. We were really disappointed as the pictures on the website and the cost of the room suggested that we would have a great stay but this was, unfortunately, not the case.

Really lovely location and quirky place. Only issues were that the free parking was full so ended up paying £10 to park in the car park opposite. Also, no vegan options in the restaurant for dinner or breakfast, so ended up having a disappointing mash up for breakfast. But service was great and room really nice. Very central if you’re there for an evening out.

Lovely hotel. Very friendly staff. Great breakfast. Located in the centre. Parking on site but tricky. Very narrow entrance and you need to enter from the right not the left. Best way -go past the hotel, from the bridge over the river, make u-turn in NCP opposite then wide turn into the entrance.

Go to the NCP car park across the road, turn round to enter the hotel car park from the right, or risk scraping your vehicle in the very limited spaces hotel car park. One morning we had to wait 50 minutes for breakfast. There is a noisy bar next door that plays loud music that we could hear from our room at the back of the hotel. We had to keep our windows closed to shut out the noise. Shrewsbury is very busy and noisy and heavy traffic was going past the front of the hotel all the time. We were staying in a room at the back of the hotel but we wouldn’t like to think about how noisy it would have been if we had been put in one at the front! We booked for dinner one night as the menu was displayed in the front window of the hotel. I had chosen something specific to eat and was told that I had been looking at the lunchtime menu. I pointed this out to the receptionist and suggested that she might like to mark this as the lunchtime menu but three days later it had still not been changed. There are many staircases throughout the building which could be confusing to get back to your room. The hotel is purely trading on its reputation for its fine dining, and we were amazed at the high price we paid for this hotel and what it offered. When we checked out we mentioned to the receptionist about the poor service at breakfast, and said we would mention this in the review. She sarcastically replied that she couldn’t wait to read it. We would not recommend this hotel.

We really enjoyed our weekend in Shrewsbury, lots tp do and see. The hotel was lovely and the staff very pleasant and attentive.

We stayed for one night in the loft suite. The room was comfortable and quirky. The staff were very good and the breakfast was very enjoyable. The only negatives are. The bath in the room is very small only one person can just about fit. The bins are emptied very early creating a lot of noise. Other than this we had a nice time.

In spite of flooding the staff were so helpful especially Holly on the desk. Thank you all for a great stay. breakfast was wonderful.
