Mom and I were on a fun road trip that was somewhat derailed by car trouble. When we arrived at this location we had been driving 10-11 hours in an effort to try and recover the time we had lost. Grateful to find a best western as we have always found them to be consistently wonderful. Upon checking in we found my mothers ac unit to be inoperable and smelled as if it was on fire. The heat was unbearable. My room also seemed to have an inoperable unit as well. When Mom called to let them know the front desk agent said she would need to wait for the repair man to arrive. My mother is elderly and disabled. The condition of the room was not suitable for her to remain in it. We went to the front desk and explained we would be leaving. It just simply wasn't possible to continue to have my mother in the heat. The front desk agent let us know that any refund would have to be discussed with Nicole the General Manager. I called Nicole a day or two later to discuss the situation. She immediately started raising her voice. I was given no opportunity to even speak a single word. When I asked her if she was even going to give me an opportunity to speak she hung up on me. Mind blown. I see where the terrible customer service comes from. The fish stinks at the head. We are currently in direct contact with corporate. This is not a good representation of what I have always found to be a great place to stay. The only reply can seem to respond with is that wrong are liars so be prepared to read that only in her response.

The rooms are average here, the internet doesn't work properly. It's otherwise a pretty average Hampton. The problem is the management. We ended up paying $6.56 more than the reservation stated, and I don't know why. The biggest issue was at check-in. There was no one there to check us in, and it wasn't very late - just before 9pm. We waited for a while, maybe 5 or 10 minutes, and then I called the hotel number. Melissa answered, I just told her that we were there to check in, and she hung up without comment. She did come out to check us in, but she told me that I should have gone behind the desk, and knocked on the door. I questioned why I would do that, or feel like it was acceptable, and she told me that she was just being funny. I didn't find it funny, and said that they could have a bell, or anything, and I didn't understand why she was being rude. She told me that I was being rude, and that she wouldn't give me a room if I continued being rude. I didn't understand how it got there, and just kept quiet until receiving the key. Once I had the key, I told her that she was the only one that was rude, and she told me that she was going to have me removed. Using the threat of not having a place to sleep that night should not be taken lightly, and it was clear this employee would have done it to anyone for almost any reason. I understand that workers in these positions are under stress and treated poorly, but sometimes the customer is still treated poorly for no reason. The most concerning thing, though, is that I contacted Hilton about it, and received unintelligible, clearly outsourced responses, and ended up getting nowhere with it. Hilton was one of the very best hotel chains 10 years ago, but has dropped to one of the worst. On this trip, I had issues with another Hilton property, and they chose to just not respond (they charged a made-up fee that wasn't disclosed). It's time to start looking at Marriott and other chains for quality accommodations.

The check in was very nice, everything was in order. The young lady was professional and efficient. The room had what it needed, but was a little rough around the edges, some wiring was exposed under the tv with some sort of AV system. It didn’t appear to present any danger, it just looked sloppy. Breakfast was okay, to brand standard, I expect. The woman running it was keeping up and was pleasant. Housekeeping was the disappointment, but not for the reason one might think. One of the housekeepers is walking down the hallway with a LOUDSPEAKER on her lapel, playing music. Two other housekeeping staff are with her. Marriott has been in the hotel business some 66 years and somehow they haven’t got it figured out to train their housekeeping staff to make sure they are not walking down guestroom hallways with loudspeakers blaring music? Two coworkers are with her, they don’t say anything. It is pretty unbelievable. They supply beds to sleep in, desks to work on, and the staff does that. It is not a street carnival. Also, there was a storm, nobody shoveled any part of the sidewalk for the morning. The hotel beside them had their sidewalks clean.
