The Novotel Salvador Hangar Aeroporto best features are its location near the airport, newer facilities than most properties in Salvador, and it operates under the ACCOR hotel brand. Despite these advantages, I must report a unacceptable experience during my stay December 28th to 31st 2022 followed by deplorable managerial customer service in response to verified and documented service failures. I have reported these issues to my travel agency, my corporate travel unit, and my personal travel networks. As I discovered this property using Trip Advisor, I have decided to report this matter for the benefit of my fellow readers. I do not recommend this property for business travelers nor cultural tourism travelers (especially not those seeking afro-Brazilian tourism or those welcoming to the African diaspora). I share some reasons herein: • Unreliable Service: During my stay I experienced one major internet outage over six business hours, as well as minor room outages (less than 30 minutes) on each day of my stay. This hotel was advertised as catering to business travelers, but the hotel provided no updates when internet would be restored despite repeated requests. I did not receive any support to manage the disruption to my teleworking, and personnel were unable/unwilling to facilitate solutions (At one point, I was recommended to use the free internet of one of the shopping malls. Imagine carrying expensive computer equipment to what my taxi driver warned was a “high crime” area). Sadly, the ability of the reception staff to identify solutions was more unreliable than the internet service. • Poor Room Quality: This hotel advertises rooms of high standards of quality, and I am sure many receive good rooms. However, I received a room that was both substandard quality (bathroom sidings and interior furniture water damaged, door malfunction, refrigerator malfunction) and pollutted by the buildings HVAC exhaust being poorly designed, allowing exhaust to flow against rooms on the lower floor (high noise pollution noticeable when sleeping). I believe most guests do not have this experience, as the issue likely affects few rooms on the lower floors. However, when choosing this property, one must ask the question, how does the receptionist decide who receives these rooms which experience high dust inflow and high noise pollution (I have videos and photos available upon request). Why are some customers placed in quality rooms, and others assigned to substandard rooms (noting the hotel has standard room types based on bed requirements)? Why did this hotel property assume that one of their few afro-descendent customers would accept the worst room in the property? • Deplorable Managerial Level Customer Service: Upon checkout, a customer service representative noted my dissatisfaction with my hotel experience, and asked if I would be willing to receive inquires from hotel management the next business day. Não se hospedem nesse hotel. Fiz uma reserva pelo Booking para hospedagem de 3 diárias em abril de 2020. Logo nessa época estourou a pandemia de COVID. Entrei em contato com o hotel e o gerente à época pediu para não cancelar a viagem pelo Booking para NÃO PAGAR PELA TAXA e nos ofereceu um voucher com o valor da diária que JÁ ESTAVA PAGA. Como pretendíamos voltar assim que as coisas melhorassem, nós aceitamos, até porque não queríamos prejudicar o hotel que teria que cancelar as hospedagens e corria o risco de quebrar durante a pandemia. Tentei reservar o hotel novamente esse ano, liguei e mandei email para reservar, mas a pousada me respondeu que o voucher era válido somente por 1 ano (até abril de 2021). Mas abril de 2021 era o auge da pandemia. Agora eles não querem honrar com as diárias nem DEVOLVER o dinheiro que eles receberam. As diárias no valor de R$ 517,60 foram pagas. ELES NÃO SE IMPORTAM com seus clientes. Em nenhum momento se preocuparam em informar os clientes que poderiam utilizar o voucher em outra data. Eu, como consumidor, estou cansado de ser passado para trás por empresas que NÃO SE m estender a data para utilizar o voucher. Precisamos parar de DAR NOSSO DINHEIRO para esse tipo de empresa. Quero o meu dinheiro de volta. Porque agora não quero nem chegar perto desse estabelecimento que não tem o menor respeito pelos clientes.

I would like to congratulate the bartender Danilo who makes a great caipirinha and knew how to communicate in my language, excellent service and good food, polite and efficient receptionists, clean and very tidy rooms.

Ficamos no hotel entre os dias 11 e 14 de novembro. Hotel bastante precário, velho/antigo e sujo. Havia pequenos bichos rastejantes no chão do quarto, a toalha claramente foi muito usada, o frigobar estava amarelado e não abria direito, o chão do banheiro tinha manchas estranhas, a saída de água do ar-condicionado ficava pingando no box do banheiro, as gotas do chuveiro iam mais para a janela di que para baixo, espelho descascando e etc. Em um dos dias nós chegamos após as 22h e o hotel estava fechado, tivemos que aperta ar o interfone e alguém nos atendeu com tanta cautela que pareceu que íamos assaltá-lo. O hotel fica numa localização ruim, o próprio Uber falou que há diversas casas de acolhimento em volta e por isso não recomenda andar à noite pois é perigoso, além disso o café da manhã é ruim. Não recomendo!!
