山坡自炊式飯店(Hillside Self Catering)

E per meta' , ma solo per meta', e' colpa nostra- only ourselves to blame. Noi abbiamo letto un po' frettolosamente la descrizione del posto, e , accostando a " self catered accomodation " la promessa di un " cestino della colazione ", ne abbiamo dedotto che si trattasse di un tipo di sistemazione come abbiamo gia' sperimentato con soddisfazione in UK, ovvero posti dove self catered significava che ci dovevamo fare il te' o il caffe' da soli, (...non e' l'ideale ma possiamo sopravvivere :) , o scaldarci da noi il pane nel tostapane, ma il resto veniva fornito tramite libero accesso a una ben fornita dispensa con tutto l'occorrente per una buona prima colazione continentale , o meglio ancora tramite ricco cestino depositato davanti alla ns.porta . Ahime' non e' cosi', il cestino vuole dire due pasticcini rinsecchiti e tutto il resto, ma tutto, te lo devi andare a procurare ' chissa' dove , visto che siamo in mezzo al nulla e il primo supermercato e' a miglia id distanza. Grande sbattimento e perdita di tempo, ma lo avremmo fatto, se non fosse che poi il cibo acquistato avrebbe dovuto essere tenuto in camera dentro un vetusto frigo rumorosissimo , che abbiamo dovuto staccare immediatamente per non rimanere rintronati. L'altra meta' che non dipende da noi e' la trasandatezza, scomodita' e poverta', estetica e funzionale, della sistemazione. Un lavandinuccio adatto solo a fare il bagno alla Barbie, una doccia in cui ci si entra solo se molto magri, un caldo boia ma niente ventilatore ... nell'armadio le grucce rotte aggiustate con un giro di cerotto ! - e comprarne di nuove, no ? - stiamo parlando di grucce di plastica, mica di legno pregiato . Il proprietario e' un signore che formalmente e ' molto cortese, e dice tutti i suoi " Grazie " e "Prego " al punto giusto,.. ma sostanzialmente del cliente se ne sbatte. E' dotato di un risonante vocione baritonale ,da operetta di Gilbert e Sullivan, che usa a volonta' per intrattenere suoi visitatori personali o altri clienti, come e quando gliene salta il ticchio, compreso alle 7 di mattina e alle 11 di sera. Chiaramente il sottotesto e' " sono a casa mia e ho diritto di fare quello che mi pare quando mi pare " , e tecnicamente non saprei neanche dargli torto, - pero' al suo posto ,se ci tenessi tanto a non avere limitazioni, - mi asterrei dal ricevere ospiti PAGANTI.

The room was very clean and had everything you needed . The owners had tea and coffee and some cakes in the room . It was well thought out and good price . The garden is very nice and well kept with chairs and tables so you can sit on sunny days and its very peaceful

Short stay to see family in the area. Lovely couple running the facility and perfect for the family to use as a base for what was a great weekend. Very well equipped and comfortable.

Great place to stay carol and Jeff were very accommodating, we asked for an early check in which was no problem. Unfortunately we ended up breaking down and arrived later than we planned carol and Jeff were so helpful, food in the yew tree inn next door was very nice. Due to waiting for the tow truck to collect us carol offered us to stay in the comfort of the cabin which was so kind of her. Would defo stay here again. The cabin was lovely plenty in room for the 5 of us

Excellent facilities and the owners were perfect hosts, their garden was an absolute pleasure, easy parking and with an excellent inn just two miles away.

Fantastic place to stay. Great value for money. Beautiful pub next door with tasty grub. Jeff was great, very easy to check in and check out.

Excellent stay. A peaceful retreat in a pretty location. We ate at the Yew Tree pub, had some lovely beers in their pretty garden. Hillside was just right for our needs. Beautifully clean with excellent comfy beds and soft linen. Towels and kitchen amenities provided. Thankyou Carol and Geoff we will come again.

What an absolute delight. This was a last minute booking, but I am so glad I found it. It was everything I wanted. Self catering, private and peaceful. Lovely welcome and was probably the best night's sleep I've had in a long time.

lovely place to stay and would stay again
