喬爾德頓巨石陣青年旅館(Stonehenge Hostel - YHA Affliated)

Nothing to rave about, it's a place to lay your head for the night. However, if you don't have a car I reccomend staying in Salisbury. The cab service is a lot better and there is more to do than Amesbury. It's in the country with nothing around. Taxi fare to Stonehenge was 30 gbps each way. Checkin os at 5 pm and checkout is at 10M. Bathrooms and beds were clean, bedrooms could use a facelift, and comman areas were kept okay. The restaurant next door didnt serve breakfast until 0830 even though the signs and menu stated otherwise. Food was good nonetheless. Was charged 20% gratuity, highest charge since in the uk.

Really great place to stay with a car. Marleen said her best English breakfast ever, lovely thick tasty solid farmers bacon and proper sausages whilst we had delicious Eggs Royale and Eggs bendict cooked by the talented Tracey the English ex Hong Konger. The coffee was gorgeous with locally themed latte art - ask for it. Slept well in an ensuite enjoyed the lounge and also peaked into the large conservatory. Next to a lovely animal farm and for the Dads some fine Decanter award winning English ‘Champagne’ from the area called Bluestone. Only missed out on being able to get onto that balcony and enjoying glasses of bubbles whilst sunning ourselves and soaking up the vineyard view and trampolines. I think it was off limits.

Good Points 1. Very friendly and helpful staff. 2. Spotlessly clean self catering kitchen, toilets, washrooms, etc. 3. Nice garden and surroundings 4. Plenty of parking - you can use the Rare Breeds Farm car park next door. 5. Very nice pub in Cholderton, about a mile down the road. I can recommend the food there. Some not so good points: 1. On the website it says breakfast and evening meal are available/can be ordered. but when I arrived they said they don't do meals at all. There is a cafe next door but it only seems to do tea and biscuits, cakes etc. and is only open for limited times. Luckily I had brought some food for breakfast, but this hostel seems to be essentially self catering. 2. No public transport anywhere near. OK for me as I have a car, but would be a problem for non-drivers (Amesbury is about 4 miles walk away). 3. A minor point - bedside lights don't work (not connected to anything). OK on a moonlit night but could stub your toe getting into bed. Despite one or two drawbacks, my stay there was pleasant and relaxing and the atmosphere was good. I would consider staying there again.

Here's a heads-up if you don't drive and rely on public transportation: Do NOT trust google map, which says that you could "walk" from Cholderston to the hostel. It's not true. Take a bus from Salisbury to Amesbury Car Park (The stop to get off is "Library") and call the cab "Henge". If you don't know the number, call the Cholderston Hostel and ask for it. It's £10 from Amesbury directly to the hostel. If you get the cab from Salisbury, it's £20-30. ---- Lovely place to stay, especially for family. There's plenty of space to run around and for a morning walk. The kitchen is clean, and the staff is helpful. I had a good night sleep.

Great welcome, clean dorm, comfortable, takeaways not far by car. Would definitely stay again.

Very pleasant place, great and lovely location, rooms very cosy and well equipped. Friendly staff, always recommend lovely places to explore in the area. It’s been our 3rd visit and definitely book it again when in the area. Highly recommend!

Lovely location good accessibility to local sites including Stonehenge. Place is very clean and staff very helpful and friendly . Amenities are very good for a hostel including a general lounge area and is a good base for the area.

I celebrated my 30th here over the weekend and it’s was absolutely brilliant! The whole set up of the farm and hostel made for a perfect day! We fed the animals, went wine tasting and even had the garden bit next to the hostel to ourselves! We’re were also fortunate enough to have a silent disco in the barn later that evening!! I’d never considered having a party/get together here before but it was amazing and would 100% recommend to anyone looking to organise something similar!! The rooms were also really clean, comfy and spacious and staying in bunk beds made it even more fun!!

Beds was OK and comfy was just surprised at the price was 100 pound for 3 of us I always thought hostels were cheaper tge nxt either stayed at another hotel for 70 for all 3 of us with breakfast don't think be using hostels again worked out over 30 odd pound each
