船堡飯店(Ship and Castle Hotel)

Ripped off wasn't told needed a ferry cancelled booking within 5mins has last ferry had left took my money and now said no refunds so be careful out to ripp you off 200£

A 3star hotel , so didn't expect the world. It is an old building and lots of stairs and w1ndy corridors to contend with. However, the room was clean and comfortable, no frills. Could hear the TV and snoring from a neighbouring room, walls are obviously thin. The water glasses weren't changed for 3 days. Food was perfectly edible, with a reasonable choice for breakfast. The staff were definitely the best thing about this hotel, friendly and very helpful. The views out of the dining room were outstanding.

We went with a coach party on arrival we were greeted with 'were full up so you can't change your room'. Being of limited mobility we had asked for a walk in shower which we got,but also over thirty steps which would have been OK except four of them had no handrail,so I risked seriously injury when going up or down. The only response from management was there's nothing we can do. On a whole the staff apart from management were lovely. The hotel is situated in a lovely position. Great Seaview from our bedroom window. Love St Mawes as we used to go there every year sailing. Food excellent. Hotel clean and comfortable. But not good for people with disabilities.

La posizione dell'albergo è ottima ma l'albergo è vecchio, sporco e mal tenuto. Doccia in pessime stato, bagno minuscolo e moquette a terra non pulita da anni probabilmente.

The view from the room was beautiful but for a deluxe room it was very small. The food was on the cheaper side but really underwhelming. The fruit salad was an apple with two grapes and a piece of melon and the sautéed potatoes were crisps. Again the views were stunning but having experienced other restaurants at St Mawes I was expecting much more than what we received. The majority of the staff were friendly and were happy to reserve us a window seat for breakfast.

Great location, but very tired and in need of a makeover and difficult to get into room as the bed was in the way!

Nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The only issue was the parking, which I understand there’s none within the hotel site. You have to pay to park with at least a 5minutes walk away This should be mentioned when booking. Lack of restaurants and things to do in the area too.

Vastly overpriced and poorly appointed and managed accommodation. Things started poorly with check-in. We were allowed to drop our bags but the public car park was expensive, not that close and with a tricky meter to operate. At check in there was a delay checking if the room was ready, at 3:15 for a 3pm check in. No WiFi code or instructions were provided. The room was much more cramped that the example on *******, with a poor and noisy outlook. Someone knocked the door 10 mins after checking to ask us if the room needed cleaning. The shower was small with nowhere to put shower gel etc and had been set for a trickle of water. We complained but no one came back to us. The second morning I discovered how to change the setting on the shower head, but the flow was still inadequate. We complained again and were promised a follow-up call when the manager was back on site. None came. St Mawes is a nice location, but I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

Myself & my boyfriend stayed here for a couple of days while he was working close to the area. On arrival we were checked in really quickly, our room was on the first floor and was a sea view room with a balcony. There was a lift however there was still a couple of steps to up then a couple more to go down to get to our room. On opening our room door we were instantly wowed by the view! The balcony doors opened to a table & a couple of chairs & we were just across the road from the harbour. It was idyllic especially as the weather was hot & sunny. The room itself was spotlessly clean, the bathroom was large and the shower was good. The room had a good sized wardrobe with plenty of hangers. There was a safe inside the wardrobe as well. There was a Tassimo coffee machine with plenty of pods as well as regular tea & coffee. A hair dryer was in one the drawers and a tv on the wall. I have to say the bed was one of the comfiest beds I’ve ever slept in! It was so lovely having the patio doors open at night looking over the harbour. We opted for breakfast and this was in a dining room again with terrific views over the harbour. The staff were lovely & friendly and had lots of local knowledge. The actual breakfast was ok, there was a hot section but the only egg option was scrambled, There was a toaster and also croissants and pain au chocolates. Apple juice & orange juice was available as well as hot drinks. Underneath the hotel is a bakery as well as a second bakery just across the road, when we stay here again we’ll opt out of breakfast and use these instead as they have a larger range of breakfast options & it’s great to use as many local businesses as possible! We were sad to leave and will definitely return here’
