This venue is really a hidden gem up to a point , the Chef and kitchen ( paticularly the Haddock and Poached Eggs at Breakfast which is Michelin Star level ) the spa and swimming pool are kept to a good standard of hygene , however there is a serious problem with service which is evident from the staff behind the bar ( Saturday 4th May to be specific ) where it was plainly evident for all of the guests seated in the lounge to witness the grief that was being given to the Restaurant Host and other waiting staff by the two individulas behind the bar who were making their life's a misery by poor attitude and unhelpfulness when rightfully they were chasing restaurant drink orders which were painfully slow on deliverance attributed totally to the ineptness of the bar staff . Its about time that Providence Hotels boss Mr Neil Hughes and Blantyre Capital and Fairtree Alternative Real Estate were made aware of this as it is not fair on the efforts made by the other staff who are being dragged down needlessly by the bar staffs under performance , ineptness and demeanour .

Lovely room, reception staff very helpful. The dinning room experience terrible & badly managed. Dinner we return one meal as the pasta has congealed and sauced had dried out. This was replace with risotto, the rice was raw & uncooked and the dish was cold (fridge temperature). Unfortunately the staff, who were lovely, were poorly trained and didn’t know what to do and there was no manager for them to ask or seek help. An offer of a “bowl” of chips was made with no other alternatives. We also ordered the salmon, which was tasteless and veggie burger which was very much lacking in quality. For breakfast we booked. Upon arrival, we were told to wait as they were full. My elderly parents had to wait 20 mins with no offer of coffee. Upon entering the dinner room it was a 1/4 full with all remaining tables filthy with used dishes. There was no effort being made to clean any of the tables. We requested service 3 times which took a further 20 minutes. We were no coffee was being served. The buffet was exceptionally poor - no bread and a very basic food offering. The rooms & hotel overall are lovely. But the dinning experience is truly awful.

A shadow of it’s former self. I wouldn’t recommend it aside from the location, but there are better hotels in the area.

Main public rooms were very comfortable and recently refurbished. Certainly unique though with very dark decor: more suited to a vampires lair in the bedroom. So dark even the lighting was insufficient to allow reading in bed, putting on makeup or shaving! We should have had a welcome drink- not offered! No information given at reception regarding facilities, dining, breakfast etc. Wait for evening meal and drinks from the bar was excessive and totally unsatisfactory. Some staff were inattentive and untrained. Swimming pool was excellent. Location excellent by the river.

The room was lovely and housekeeping staff were amazing. Our problems started when we went to the bar/restaurant. We went to the restaurant first night, and services was chaotic. They didnt have a record of our booking time and were asked to wait 10 mins, which we gladly did and decided we'll get a drink at the bar, we then got ignored at the bar for the whole the 10 mins by bar staff. Once finally seated in restaurant, and ordered.We ended up getting our rolls served as we just finished our 1st meal and We didnt get our wine until half way though 2nd meal. However, breakfast was very nice. The 2nd night, we decided to go back to the bar to see if we'll get served, again we didnt. We got seated by one of waiting staff and wait for a while until we finally spoke to someone to find out the kitchen was closed. We ended up going back to our room hungry and disappointed.

Always a pleasure staying at Dunkeld House, the staff in particular are excellent, friendly and attentive.

Room was fantastic for staying with our young son. Service for dining was average, we ate early in the bar area but staff all seemed like they had showed up late. At first there was no one about then lots appeared all fussing over candles on tables and busy work instead of asking guests what they’d like or where they should sit. Food was very good though. Pool area looks great and very clean but pool temp is cold! more like an Olympic training pool than a spa hang out. Mens changing room looking very tired - felt a bit unclean but maybe just the age. Overall 4 stars as food, rooms and surroundings were fantastic but little things dropped a star.

Booked x3 comfort double. Was given one of the newer rooms in the annexe and 2 others. The 2 other rooms looked as if they hadn’t been done up since the 80’s. When queried with reception twice I was told that comfort doubles were those rooms and not the more modern ones. Clearly not true as we had a refurbished room. Charging £190 per night for these older rooms is daylight robbery. I was told I was wrong by reception and to speak to the reservations team. Not great considering we had a party of 10 people in 4 rooms in total through a separate booking. An expensive night for accommodation similar to a budget 3 star hotel.

Amazing hotel. What a find. Log fires, room fantastic, on the river. Staff attentive. Will be using again.
