We stayed at Disney's Fort Wilderness Lodge from July 31 to August 2, coming to celebrate my son’s 9th birthday as a family. We had booked a dinner at Whispering Canyon Café inside the hotel. Our party consisted of 7 people – 4 adults and 3 children (ages 9, 8, and 7). It was late, the restaurant was closing, and while we waited for the check, the kids were playing quietly in the hotel lobby, within our sight. Suddenly, in the blink of an eye, a man – approximately 40 years old – stormed toward us, furious, claiming that a small bubble stick the kids had been playing with had accidentally hit him. The children immediately apologized, repeatedly asking if he was okay. His response was shocking – he yelled that he would call the police, crushed the bubble stick into pieces on the floor aggressively, clearly trying to intimidate not only the children but us, the parents, as well. What followed was even more distressing. Our three children were crying uncontrollably, terrified that they might be taken away by the police. Yet instead of comforting us or ensuring our safety, hotel staff surrounded us as if our children were the threat, while this man – visibly unstable and possibly intoxicated (he later threw away his beer cup in a bathroom trash can, seemingly to hide evidence) – continued walking freely around the lobby, approaching us again with an intimidating demeanor. Shockingly, there was no security escorting him or keeping him away from our family despite his aggressive actions. We insisted the police be called, and eventually, an officer arrived. Unsurprisingly, it was reduced to a “conversation” where it was explained that this man should not have approached us the way he did. Yet the hotel’s “solution” was to relocate our family to a room on the 2nd floor, while this man remained comfortably on the 6th floor – the same floor we had originally been assigned – even though he was clearly the aggressor and a danger to our peace of mind. On what should have been my son’s magical birthday celebration, he is now scared that this man might knock on our door or come after us again. This is not the Disney experience I believed in for the last 15 years. My children have been coming to Disney since they were 2 months old, we are pass holders, and we have countless cherished memories here – but this experience has shaken that magic to the core. We were not protected, respected, or supported by the resort in a moment when a family – with three terrified children – desperately needed it. Instead, we were made to feel like the problem, while the real threat walked away unchecked. This is not the “Dreams Come True” that Walt Disney World once stood for. It breaks my heart that my son’s birthday ended this way, and after so many years of loyalty to Disney, today my family feels unsafe and deeply let down inside a place that should be all about joy, family, and unforgettable memories. Currently staying at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, or should that be Disney’s Construction Site! Heavy machinery and men outside my balcony door every weekday for the past week, apparently painting the building. Not sure why this needs to happen during peak season but it is. The front desk don’t know how long the building works will take, they’ve offered an alternative room on the third floor but given that the cherry picker is going up and down they don’t think that’ll be any quieter. My balcony was painted the other day rendering that out of use; the workmen just slapped a sticker on the window that morning to say out of use. I’m I was staying in a cheap hotel in Spain I could understand it… But I’m not! I’m paying premium money to stay at a Disney 5 star resort and the experience is very poor!! It’s a rip off and very much spoiling our premium vacation. The staff are very friendly but saying ‘have a nice day’ to me all the time whilst not addressing these issues rings hollow! I won’t be staying here again, I doubt I’ll try a Disney property again, my advice is to spend your premium money elsewhere

Know what you pay for! Things have certainly changed for the worse at Wilderness Lodge. Upon check-in, they tried to give me a standard view room when I paid for fireworks view. When I questioned it, supervisor told me I can “see” the fireworks from room 4020. I had to explain to her I paid an extra $800 for fireworks view category. After refusing room 4020, and firmly asking for what I rightfully paid for, they magically found a room in the correct category. Clearly, they were trying to swindle me with a lower value room. For dinner, I checked into Whispering Canyon at 6:08pm with 6:25pm reservation. We finally got seated at 7pm after I continually asked to be seated. Waiting almost 1hr for subpar food is ridiculous for a deluxe level resort! Once again, if I didn’t push-back, after 40minutes of waiting for a table who knows how much longer it could have been. If castmebers knew it was busy, they could have told me at check-in. Communication is key to valuable customer service. Every time I asked about the table I was told “a few minutes”…. When did a “few” mean “45” minutes? Once again, not something I would expect from a deluxe resort. With so few chairs at the main pool, we never got to enjoy. Each day was jammed packed with nowhere to sit. Thankfully, the quiet pool offered my family an opportunity to enjoy an amenity on this property. It’s pool access but my daughter missed out on poolside activities and slide since they aren’t available at the “quiet” pool. The ONLY decent thing about my stay this week was paying an extra $125 a night for club level access. Cast members were actually caring, helpful, and providing a proper service expected at a deluxe resort. I’ve stayed at WL several times in the past and loved it. It’s certainly going straight down hill in customer service. This week I had to push-back to get any type of decent service (except at Club level). It’s so sad how a great place like Wilderness Lodge has lost a customer forever. After this week, I have no desire to ever stay here again. Disney resorts should be relaxing and enjoyable. If you want this in your stay, choose another property at Disney World because you won’t find it at Wilderness Lodge. Hopefully you all have a better experience. I’ll post pics of Club Level since that was the only saving grace for me this week at this god forsaken resort. Beware, be informed and speak up, or else Wilderness Lodge will railroad you!!

We went for another week at the lodge. We love this hotel and we stopped counting how many times we’ve been there. For the next 2 years however we will have to find something else. There is outside maintenance work for the next 2 years and Disney occupies even rooms where you can’t use the balcony. Close the door and curtain for privacy is what Disney states in a letter in the room. Really? We don’t mind hearing or seeing some maintenance work and understand the need but after 2 full days having a painter and other maintenance staff at our balcony we asked to be moved. Special thank you to Arlene of the front desk who handled this professionally and turned our disappointed first half of the week into a magical 2nd half of the week. We didn’t see her anymore, but thank you Arlene! The solution is simple: don’t rent out the rooms that are on the outside maintenance schedule that goes week by week.

Absolutely incredible, best hotel we have stayed in at Disney, the restaurant may not be to everybody’s taste, however, the experience makes up for this. Highly recommend club level - 100% worth the extra cost. A short boat ride away from magic kingdom and a bus ride to the other parks. Beautiful hotel, amazing club perks, overall wonderful.
