雪松飯店(The Cedars Hotel)

If this is an AA three star hotel I am a magician and will never stay in another so called three star ever again. Web pictures are misleading. It is quite run down. Beautifully fluffy towels, lots of them and cheery reception staff cannot make up for dirt- curtain, bathroom floor, carpet (oh my days!) Had to try to wipe clean the entire bathroom floor edge but couldn't sort all the muck adhering to and on the carpet- mainly window side Thankfully with towels to spare I could cover the floor where I needed to walk. When your first impression is of a fly/mosquito or sume such on the white sheet on the bed, I guess it was indicative.

Seems very run down and tired looking. I needed somewhere to stay in the area due to last minute change of plans and The Cedars seemd like a reasonable option. Door was locked when I arrived around 10pm and entrance was dark. Managed to find the phone to contact them and someone came to open the door. When I asked about getting a drink was told there was no bar and directed to my room. No mention of restaurant or breakfast so I assume that wasn't an option. The area outside my window was boarded up with chipboard just about 2 feet away and as far as I could see either side. Gave the impression it was ready for demolition. Bed however was quite comfortable and I slept pretty well. Next morning when getting dressed someone knocked on my door and when I opened it the chap who was there said he didn't realise anyone was in the room! Bathroom didn't seem particularly clean but had a quick shower and left.

Absolutely awful. Shower held up by duct tape. No toilet roll on arrival. Shower not clean. What appeared to be a used contact lense in the bed. Bed broken on one side. Windows safety feature to not open too far was broken.

Its not very often that i follow.my mothers advice, but in this case she is probably correct. My mother always gave me the following advice... if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. Enough said!

Hotel was tired looking and needs updating but room was clean, the carpet was stained in places, the bathroom was clean but we had no shower hot water, radiator in the bathroom would not turn off so room warm.

Room was adequate fairly clean , reception on arrival was OK, people who were staying there were noisy till the early hours ie 3in the morning, it was cheap and cheerful but to be honest I won't be staying there again and wouldn't recommend it, does need to be improved

This hotel was an awful experience, infact a comedy of errors. Check in about 9pm. TV remote not working,so no TV. receptionist came to room to try and fix new batteries no good. I was given the room next door, at least TV worked. Room was filthy not prepared at all. dirty used towels in bathroom, tea/coffee tray empty, no toilet rolls, full rubish bags stuffed in wardrobe, empty vodka bottle under desk and corridor stair hand rail coming away from the wall. As it was late I decided to get some clean towels, beveridges, just go to sleep and complain in the morning. I complained in the morning and asked fo a full refund. The staffsaid the room was totally uneceptable and they would action a refund. I phoned the hotel the next day and they said the refund was actioned. Any way two weeks later and a couple of phone calls NO REFUND IN MY BANK.

Room was cold and the floor filthy, as the window had been left open and debris blown in across the floor. I borrowed a vacuum, prominently on display in reception, and sorted it out myself. Don't think it had been vacuumed for a while. Even after cleaning, the carpet was stained and grubby. There was half a chip under the desk. At 10pm I discovered there was no toilet paper in my room, nor in the public WCs down the corridor. This time, reception was in darkness and the phone went unanswered. Entrance lobby and car park were also unlit and dark. No food whatsoever, yes the booking does point this out. Toilet cistern drips loudly, as the valve has failed. The least welcoming hotel I've used in years.

Friendly staff member - Shame it is closing down due to big refurbishment. Room was clean enough, kettle with selections of tea, coffee and biscuits. Room a bit tired but for the rate paid cannot expect more.
