We have visited this hotel several times in the past but were very disappointed this time. After a tiring day driving back to the UK from the Alps, this town is just off the Autoroute and is always a good stopover. We particularly like the menu and quality of food. We had reserved a table for dinner and were looking forward to it. Only to be told that there were no tables available. Why we asked? This was 14 February, Valentines Day, and the whole restaurant would be full with paying guests for a special celebratory feast (69euros per head). And there were no spare places, nor was the usual dinner menu being offered. We asked why they did not tell us that earlier, as we could have booked elsewhere. (We had made the booking way back on 24 January, via LogisHotels). BUT no explanations, no apology or assistance with alternative restaurants. Only the classic gallic shrug. We were made to feel most unwelcome. The hotelier phoned through to our room later, and we thought he might be offering some help at last. But all he wanted was for us to come to reception and settle the bill there and then, instead of the next day, as is more normal. He was so unfriendly and we felt humiliated. A search on internet showed several other restaurants were also closed that day. So we were stranded with nowhere to go. In the end we drove to the nearest supermarket where there was a brasserie, only to find it too was just closing. We bought a bagette and slices of ham to eat in our room, washed down with a glass of wine. Not the perfect end to our holiday. It is no surprise that we were will not be going back to this hotel, ever again.
