現代飯店(The Modernist Hotel)

It’s a spacious hotel and good value of money, especially in New York City!! It’s also very clean!

Property was easy to find. There’s street parking but if you come back late at night, it’s harder to find parking. Front desk was friendly. We booked a king bedroom and when we got in, it smelled like **** and cigarettes even though they tried to mask the smell with a citrus spray in the room. I was allergic to smoke so I stood outside while my partner called the front desk if we could switch to a different room. The front desk was accommodating and switched us to a king suite on the 4th floor. This room didn’t have any bad scent. It had a couch and the leather couch was sinked in. There’s ac and heat you could adjust. It came with bath robes, towels, toiletries, slippers, has eating utensils. Some of the towels have stains. The bathroom had a very mild mildew and urine scent. The bed sheets were clean with no hair. This hotel is very quiet and was able to get some sleep in. I appreciate they had a firm pillow available and the bed was also firm. I would recommend it for 1-2 night stay. It is very close to manhattan and also flushing driving distance.

My husband and I were in town for a few music business events and settled on The Modernist for its location near to transit that allowed easy access to Bushwick, Chelsea and Midtown where our events took place. We loved our Premiere King with balcony (especially the room to do yoga in the morning!) And we're very impressed with the friendly and attentive staff. We will be back!

We loved our stay! Super cute room, spacious, comfy bed, very clean! Front desk was very welcoming. It is a family owned and run business, so we LOVE to support our locals. It was perfect for a mini getaway as new parents away from our baby.

The name of the hotel is very much indicative of the overall vibe and style of the hotel. My room was spacious and had a balcony. My room had kitchenette, and they provide you with standard hotel toiletry. I loved the gallery which is a must see during the day and night. I also like the deli up the block. The prices were reasonable and a typical NY deli. Traveling to Manhattan is convenient with just a short walk to the train. I would definitely stay here again.

We liked the furnishings: the round table and chairs and kitchen cabinets and counter and dishes. Also liked glass block window with electronic shade and the view out the huge window. It was very quiet (except for noisy guests nextdoor who the front desk quickly quieted down). It was very clean. Except: need dishwashing soap and sponge so guests can wash the dishes. Housekeeping failed to wash the dishes that were left in the sink.

My husband and I stayed here for our NYC anniversary trip, and we thought the hotel was wonderful! The staff were very kind, our room was clean, and the hotel was within a 5 minute walk to the subway into Manhattan (with a cafe on the way!). The lounge area on the first floor was cozy and it was great to see all of the artwork. It felt like a lot of love went into designing the building. I would definitely recommend staying here!

This property and its managers were fantastic. Staff: 1. They're available via text or call. Super convenient! 2. We arrived an hour or so early not expecting our room to be ready, but it was! 3. They only had Lipton tea in the suite. I asked if they might have others. Instead of saying no, they were kind enough to get the tea I was hoping for. Did not expect that, but so grateful. 4. Full of helpful local recommendations! 5. Always friendly and kind. Property: 1. 5-7 minute walk from the train. 2. Mom and Pop eateries close by. 3. Very quiet and clean. 4. I wish the cool lounge room was a breakfast spot. 5. Felt very safe. 6. The spacious room was great for a family of 4. 7. The view of Manhattan from our room was amazing. All-in-all, I would definitely stay again! The only weird thing is it has a slight Air bnb feel where you have to sign disclosures before checking in, and they put tiny signs throughout the room stating how much it costs to replace damaged or missing items in the room.

Great decor, very clean, very spacious. Aaron at front desk was great at check in. Though the bed we had in Room 700 squeeked a lot for the softest of movement. Unable to sleep comfortably, infomred manager/front desk at check out but wasnt offered any voucher or credit on anything
