The whole experience. The property owner was VERY condescending and dismissive. I wasn’t aware there will be flights of stairs. I wasn’t aware this was an “AirBNB” as the owner stated, hinting at the name “Residence”. Really, Booking does not have this as an AirBNB and I can see why she’s not marketing on AIRBNB, this is horrible mess. Then I had to take another set of stairs to get to my room only to be met by two LARGE cockroaches. I skinned my arm on the cement wall as I was startled to see that. The owner brushed it off, laughing all while being very rude. She did state she would call pest control in the morning but I know she really could not have expected me to sleep in that room knowing there are bugs in there. Then she said in a pleasantly persnickety tone, “well, you can cancel, I don’t have any rooms”. Really, it’s 11p at night obviously in a bad neighborhood in the French Quarter, I’m alone and go where? She had no concern at all! She also mentioned that the place has been sprayed but I should never have seen ROACHES if this were true. I grew up FL, I know this! This building is old, the floor creeks, going down the stairs seemed like I would have fell. The apt smelled like old, wet wood. The volume on the TV fire stick did not work. It smelled like piss outside and lastly, at this point I did not feel safe as I was traveling alone. Oh AND, the wifi was not working as she said there was an outage, LIES! Booking told me she asked for picture of the roaches, REALLY. I have bags in my hand, startled by two large roaches, I’m to take pictures of moving cockroaches. It’s a shame too because it could potentially be a nice little quaint place. Also, do not be fooled by the pictures, there are a lot of filters it seems on the pictures. I seen the reviews of this place on booking and the ppl staying here give some good reviews, which is why I booked HOWEVER, they may like to live in mess but I do not. I seen the reviews in google, 90% are HORRIBLE. Read them.

For days now there has been loud constant banging, it starts at 8.am and ends after 4pm. It goes on all day long. One of the workers had a code to our door and walked in. I asked to get a new door code and they ignored me. They are doing extensive construction above us, we have photos. They have done nothing to fix this problem we should have been informed about this construction before checking in. I have text messages from them about the constant banging all day and they did nothing half the time they ignored us. They also tried to say it was an emergency repair, as you can see from the photos this was an extensive remodeling project going on.. We even tried to get *********** to contact them about the noise and to date we haven't heard from either of them, They also had no security for the front door it was constantly open, not that it mattered since a random stranger already walked into our condo so the code is given to anyone. We were coming in one evening and got accosted by 2 men who were sitting in the foyer who we don't even think were staying there. We were afraid to leave our room or return in the evenings. I didn't speak to them when they cat called me and they called me a stuck up B**CH. So many things are broken, and it is dirty in there. The blow dryer and coffee maker are both broken. The outlets in the loft and the kitchen don't work. Also beware with the water or you will burn your skin off.

The best three attributes of this property are it’s location, location, and location. Please note this review is specific to only Unit 2 of this 15 unit property. Other than it’s location in the French Quarter there is very little reason to stay at this property and Unit 2 should not be rented until improved. It is by far the worst accommodations we’ve ever stayed at and had all the charm and warmth of a mid-evil dungeon. This property had significant shortfalls to include: 1. Poorly stocked kitchen and broken oven. Stove was left unplugged and we had to light the large burner with a match. Coffee pot broken and wouldn’t keep the contents hot. 2. Master bedroom bed not properly supported on the frame resulting in a big divot in the center and sagging on the floor. 3. No where to hang clothes in the master bedroom. Bed lacked a headboard and there was only one nightstand. Could not reach the light switch pull string so your choice was to have both fan and light on or off. Without a ladder you could not turn the lights off and keep the fan on. Pitiful. 4. Living room furnishings were deplorable. Ripped and extremely uncomfortable futon used for a couch. Armchair was rickety and ready to collapse. Table lamp had loose wiring and would not remain on. Some electrical outlets uncovered. The living room coffee table was beat up, warping, and unclean-ably sticky. All in all, the most comfortable chair we sat in during this stay was our folding bag chair. 5. Bathroom was marginally useful but we would recommend they reseat the commode to eliminate rocking when you sit down. May want to also check the urine smell. 6. Floor unfinished from the last century. Chipped paint flaked off on our feet. Disgustingly dirty. Even with your socks on paint chips would stick to your feet. 7. While the rest of the unit appeared clean, notwithstanding the rustic look and shoddy furnishings, we did find a month-old cake in one of the kitchen cabinets. We left it there for future guests as a rolling check on the thoroughness of their cleaning procedures. Future guest should check on this cake and provide updates. 8. Master bedroom television inoperable due to missing controller. Called maintenance the first day yet never resolved in 6 days. Wondered if it was stuck under the aforementioned sagging bed. We couldn’t muster the nerve to check. 9. Non-existent WiFi resulted in no streaming access for the living room television. This led to frustrating “frozen black screens.” Thankfully we keep our stay in this unit to a minimum. This would have been more miserable if the weather was bad and we had to stay in this unit any longer than necessary. 10. Lack of smoke detectors

The apartment was a bit worn and dated but very clean. Pretty much to be expected with an older building. It had ‘ bags’ of character and was very conveniently located to everything we wanted to see. It was good value for money. I would happily stay there again.
