In August 2024, our stay at this hotel turned sour after a mishandled incident that ultimately ruined our vacation. We encountered several service-related issues. The cleaning staff does not adhere to expected ethical standards, and we found the overall conduct of the front desk staff to be unprofessional. Additionally, management/reservations (Demetris, based in Athens, who was not present during the incident) provided an inaccurate account of the situation, and the owner, Stavros Mbafitis, was unresponsive to our calls. Based on our experience, we do not recommend this hotel as its customer service and conflict resolution are below acceptable and ethical standards. They manipulate events and employ tactics to extract additional money from quests. During our stay, an unfortunate incident occurred when the cleaning staff spilled pomegranate juice in our room, causing stains on our clothes, curtains, floor, and wall. Instead of taking responsibility, the cleaning staff left the mess and disposed the empty juice bottles in the bathroom garbage bin. The management then demanded compensation for the damages, over-exaggerating the overall cost. They falsely claimed that we had denied them access to the room and misrepresented the extent of the damages to the hotel (See the attached pictures that shows the ever-evolving damaged list). We also experienced verbal threats and demeaning remarks, with Demetris telling us that we could afford to pay the extra charges simply because we booked their hotel in August. Our requests for security footage to clarify timing and to verify the events were denied, and our attempts to communicate with the owner and share our account of the events were disregarded. When we contacted the police, we were shocked to find that the responding officer had a personal connection to the hotel’s owner. The officer advised us to adjust the extra charges by removing the cost of the TV and halving the remaining amount. I would like to caution potential future guests that the hotel’s cleaning staff engage in questionable practices and the management lacks proper ethical standards. Not only did they damage our clothes, but they also impacted our vacation experience. In addition to these issues, the overall condition of the property appears outdated and tired. The rooms and bathrooms clearly need updating and cleaning (see pictures). Even the breakfast buffet was subpart, as most of the fruit had a slimy texture, and their baked items were stale, as they were re-serving unconsumed items the next day. We do not recommend the hotel. We advise future guests to consider nearby hotels that are nicer and newer.
