Hello Everyone,
I have now stayed at the Avid four times since last spring. All of the stays are related to temporary work assignments in the area. One may ask if I have a problem with the hotel why do I stay there? Simple. It is a new hotel, with very reasonable pricing, well laid out, spacious parking, and easily accessible to numerous restaurants, a grocery store and the highway.
What is my problem with the hotel? The desk staff is friendly, professional and responsive. It is the cleaning staff that I have an issue with. Most guests are tourists resting overnight while traveling or transient workers like myself. Many of the workers are employed on construction sites and frequently have dirt, mud and debris on their clothing when returning to the hotel.
The rooms are cleaned daily but have linoleum floors. They frequently trap fine dust that is picked up by your feet and noticed when you get a shower and see the stains leaving your feet. The room floors need to be swept and mopped on a daily basis. But this is nothing compared to the other areas of the hotel.
I don't think the hallways, elevator floors, or stairwells are ever cleaned. The layer of dust on the bannisters in the rear stairwell show that it has not been touched in months or years. The ground in dirt in the carpets is more than enough proof of lack of cleaning. I am not sure what the cleaning staff are told but they seemingly only visit the rooms, nothing else.
They need a good cleaning staff manager!
