Stayed at this hotel for one night with my husband and toddler as we were attending a family celebration in the area. We stayed in the Evangeline room which was decorated lovely, it had a trundle bed that pulled out for our toddler so no uncomfortable sharing the bed with a wiggling child that night. There were some renovation works going on in the yard which were a tad unsightly but this did not affect us as we could use the other entrance to the hotel through the bar and it was only going on during the day time. It seems that the establishment has now been taken over by a gentleman and they are in the process of renovating the pub and yard area . We only had a few drinks in the bar before we headed out , the back bar was quite busy and it seemed that it was where the locals clientele hanged out so we found a table in the front where we could tuck our toddler away. The staff were friendly enough, it’s a shepherd neame pub so beer was a bit limited as my husband likes more modern IPA but I was more than happy with the wine selection. We would like to come back as the hotel is in the perfect location and it’s nice to stay in a proper pub (they seem to have all disappeared these days) will be interesting to see what they do with the place now it’s under new management. Overall a pleasant stay! Breakfast wasn’t included , however we were recommended St Leonard’s in the high street which is a gorgeous and very posh eatery . The food was lovely, affordable and a real treat.
