Hotel in una posizione fastica dentro al parco marino . Iris non classificabile perché è il TOP cibo ottimo spiaggia veramente bella e isola magnifica. Se volete un po' di tranquillità lontano dal classico turismo di massa ve la consiglio.

Fantastische Anlage. Sehr idyllischer Ort, mit nur wenigen Bungalows. Der Pool ist schön gelegen. Der Strand ist sehr ruhig und sauber. Der neue Koch war fantastisch! Wir wurden jeden Tag mit köstlichen Menü (eher Fisch lustig) überrascht. Alle, die bis dahin kein Fisch und Lobster mochten, wurden überzeugt! Das personal ist unfassbar freundlich und fast schon familiär. Die Ausflüge über das Diving Center sind abwechslungsreiche und top organisier

Welch ein Erlebnis in einem solchen Paradies 24 Tage Erholungsurlsub verbringen zu dürfen. Die italienischen Gastgeber sind immer da inkl.Nonna und Tochter und kümmern sich um das Wohlergehen der Gäste. Die freundlichr Rezeption hat immer eine Lösung bereit und die hausgemachte Eiscreme der italienisch inspirierten Köche ist ehrlich eine Sünde Wert. Die Zimner sehr sauber, wenngleich mit 20m2 für Anspruchsvolle vielleicht etwas klein, in der grossen Tropenlounge mit der traumhaften Aussicht auf Meer und Garten findet jedoch jeder genug Platz. Das sehr professionell geführte Tauchcenter und der so friedliche Strand befinden sich am Ende des Gartens ein paar Schritte von der Terasse entfernt und runden das inspirierende Ferienfeeling ab. Für einmal stimmt der Spruch: you come as a guest and leave as a friend.

Une dernière étape avant notre retour au pays. Après Zanzibar et ses excès, son tourisme à outrance et sa surpopulation, un détour par Mafia est appréciable. Certes les plages sont loin du paradis de l'île zanzibarite. Mais ici on profitera du calme et de la sérénité. L'accueil est sympathique. Tout le monde est prévenant et avenant. Que ce soit pour des conseils ou des aides après des déconvenues le personnel est là pour vous. L'espace commun est propice au ressourcement. Et le top du top de l'endroit est la qualité et l'amour mis dans la cuisine qu'il concocte. Tout simplement les meilleurs plats de toute la Tanzanie (de notre séjour de 3 semaines). Le wifi est d'une qualité surprenante. Les chambres sont sommaires mais agréable. Un petit balcon avec vue sur jardin et plage au fond complète l'harmonie. Il faut cependant savoir que si l'on s'attend à une plage "dédiée" à l'hôtel, on sera déçu. Il y a certes un coin appartenant au Lodge mais il est indissociable de la plage publique. Qui est entièrement squattée par des bateaux de pêche et de transport publique. Cela donne très peu envie de s'y baigner et on est loin du calme. Si on en a connaissance avant, aucun problème. Néanmoins l'endroit mériterait terriblement d'avoir une piscine. J'espère qu'un jour ils en installeront une. Surtout qu'au milieu des jardins se serait fabuleux. Le seul point améliorable en dehors de ça: la propreté dans les chambres. Le service de chambre fait le minimum, les linges sont tachés et après un séchage sentent fort l’humidité du moisi. Les WC et la douche aussi gagnerait à être mieux nettoyés. Je les encourage à travailler sur ces points. Néanmoins notre passage là-bas fut mémorable. Merci à tous pour vos efforts et votre chaleur. Vous nous manquez déjà.

Fin de voyage pour moi à Zanzibar et donc petit détour par Mafia. Pas du tout déçu d'avoir fait ce crochet car l'ile y est bien plus intéressante que Zanzibar. L'hôtel est situé en bord de plage (à 100 m), au calme car aucune route ne continue après et offre ainsi une tranquillité et un repos au top. L'espace restauration / bar est ouvert et donne sur de magnifiques flamboyants et frangipaniers tout comme les chambres d'ailleurs. Petiit bémol sur un service en chambre inexistant si vous ne le demandez pas, des chambres confortables mais qui aurai besoin d'un petit rafraichissement, mais surtout une cuisine certes bonne mais qui manque cruellement de saveurs locales (dommage de se retrouver ici pour manger des plats Italiens). Mais cela ne m'empêchera pas d'y revenir.....

Myself a a friend spent three nights at Mafia Island Lodge, and loves our time there. The location is wonderful, with a view of palm trees down to the beach, and a 2 minute walk to Big Blu where all the excursions leave from. We stayed in the superior rooms which were comfortable, clean and light. Great airconditioning (essential in Mafia in Feb!) and a little private patio with views over the garden. The staff absolutely make this place. Iris the hotel manager is welcoming and warm, and all her staff, from the waiters to the Masai guards, are delightful and professional. Food was great, we went for the full board option. We especially appreciated our delicious packed lunches when out on excursions that were all in containers and with mental cutlery - no single use plastic or styrofoam, hooray! Looking forward to seeing the results of the renovations and hope to return again. Thank you, Asante Sana!

Stayed here in 2020 and 2021, it used to be good and convenient, now they are under new ownership and the lodge has lost all its charm. The rooms are of a decent size and the ñocation is convenient. However, they are cutting down trees (which for a Marine reserve park just blows my mind)… they are creating a negative environment and getting into fights with the community. Not a nice environment for holidays. I would avoid. Many great options around with a more sustainable practice.

Mafia Island Lodge had been closed for nearly two years for refurbishment after a change of ownership so we were honoured to be the first guests invited for lunch just prior to the reopening as part of the restaurants final training program. We enjoyed a beautiful and plentiful 4 course meal comprising local ingredients, fresh seafood, home made pasta and one of the best deserts we have ever had made by the in-house pastry chef. Everything we sampled was beautifully presented, perfectly cooked and extremely tasty. Portion sizes were very generous. The open dining area of the lodge which overlooked the gardens and the beach was a lovely place to sit back, relax and enjoy the attentive and very professional service from the new team. Though we were unable to stay at the lodge on this occasion, if the restaurant is anything to go by we're confident that the refurbished rooms will be of a similar high standard and would be happy to recommend this as a perfect place to stay on Mafia Island. It's located very close to the beach with easy access to diving and snorkelling facilities as well as an array of beachside bars. A huge thank you to Iris and all her team for inviting us to this memorable lunch - we wish you all the best for the reopening (late November 2023) and hope to visit again one day.
