Yes, as godzillabird has just remarked, the prices keep going up, and as we have commented in an earlier review, we very much miss the rooms in the Hacienda now that it’s been turned into a spa. But LP in its growth and changes has lost little of the character and charm that have defined it in the many years since our first visit. The older Meem rooms, sometimes tough to reserve, are faves. This time we liked the Girard casita, freshly renewed, luxurious linens, perks like turndown with a nighty-night bedtime tea service laid out. Did afternoon tea in La Quinta: ample, inventive, graciously served. Did cocktails in the Library: warm, clubby room, with bar-person Melanie’s knowledgeable advice about house variations on spritzes and negronis. Campo fine as ever. Swell staff, perfect duckie breasts. Brunch—well, interesting. And a resident peachicken bade us farewell. See him again soon!
