My husband and I overnighted at the Falcon on our way from Scotland to the Channel ferry at Dover. The location was perfect for us as we were visiting friends in South Yorkshire and Northamptonshire. The Falcon was a great choice. It's also obviously very popular with locals as there was a happy crowd there on the evening we checked in. We ate in the bar and had a delicious meal. The salmon was among the best I have ever tasted and their choice of breakfasts was impressive and delicious. Our room was very comfortable and it was great to be able to park our car right outside it. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful. We definitely made the right choice with the Falcon. It's also near East Midlands Airport, so it's worth considering if you are flying from there.

Evening meal excellent and staff very friendly however the room left a lot to be desired with mould on walls and the bath was badly chipped. Perhaps I should have expected dogs in a country pub but the number of dogs in the bar and restaurant area was over whelming.I think guests should be made aware of this fact and Whilst eating there was a constant stream of large and small canines walking past our table and together with the barking I am afraid we would not return.

Just experienced an excellent Sunday lunch, at The Falcon- tomato soup perfect, calamari, duck Bon Bon’s along with shrimps including a chilli/ Mayo dip , fresh salad , garlic mushroom with Parmesan flakes all 10/10 . Mains Roast Pork, Rib of Beef , and a trio of meats. All with Fresh yorkies , Rosties cauliflower cheese greens and carrot along with a Bottle of French Merlot . What a wonderful place. Went to stay for 1 night and ended up staying for 9! Amazing staff, happy, friendly and unbelievably helpful. Beautiful food - breakfast is one of, if not, the best I've ever had. Not a bad word to say about this place - I will definitely be back!

Food was so-so. Had a steak which came over cooked compared to what was asked and a very measly portion of chips - can’t have been more than 10. Asked the waitress if they had a certain juice. She said she didn’t know and didn’t volunteer to go and find out either. Weirdest thing about the place was that there were high chairs, a children’s menu and yet no baby change? Won’t be going back.

Warm welcome for our December "date" night. Table for two in a quiet part of the pub/restaurant which was very busy with what appeared to be staff parties (its that time of year you know). The food was as good as we might have expected but nothing out of the ordinary and good value. The experience would have been better if we were asked during the meal if everything was OK as we had a couple of minor irritations. The starter of parfait was excellent large portions of pate, marmalade and butter but there was just not enough toast to go with it - another slice of toast would have been appropriate. I do believe that Parmentier potatoes should be crispy. Unfortunately when they are served in a bowl rather than on a plate the potatoes ****** up the sauce accompanying the Hake and so any crispyness (if that's a word) went out of the window so to speak. So why did I not feedback at the time. A. We weren't asked for feedback whilst eating B. We're British we don't make a fuss! Would we go back again in the future - yes but there are plenty of similar places around this part of the world.
