古堡歷史悠久，走進古城堡有和古人握手的感覺，非常真實的200年時光穿越，特別是歺廳就歺，先在古堡底通道來回穿行，繞過映着蘭光深達數米的深井口，再通過一段陳列着收藏品的走廊，進入歺廳燭光幽暗，神祕感極強。小院幽靜，環境超級棒，房後山谷溪流，是早上跑步極佳選擇地。古堡正殿牆上掛滿中世紀油畫和歐洲瓷器，顯示了家族興旺。這裏休閑旅遊度假的首選之地。

Quality hotel in a well maintained historic building which makes a refreshing change to the plastic accommodation thrown up today. Staff friendly and attentive, pity about the internet being down for maintenance which took the edge off my stay which was semi business but these things happen.

Lumley Castle Hotel was an absolute delight to stay at. The room (superior) was roomy, comfy, warm and had a great view of the castle. The large Queen? size bed was very comfortable. The restaurant, whilst not cheap, provides outstanding food both at Breakfast and Dinner times. The people who work there were outstanding in being friendly, professional and efficient - they are a real credit to the hotel, and appeared to really enjoy working there. The Castle itself (where we ate in the restaurant) is in great condition and has lovely old corridors to venture through en-route to eat. We both found the hotel extremely relaxing to stay at.

The venue, absolutely top marks. 600 years of history, so what's not to like. The staff were all really welcoming and helpful. And the overall atmosphere was good. A couple of things concerned me really. Firstly, because many of these very old and very large buildings would cost a small fortune to fully refurbish. The work is often temporary and not the best. On the whole the condition of things was OK. But a lot of the stonework on the exterior was really crumbling and could do with serious attention. That's not to say that it was structurally unsound, just needed sustained investment. The courtyard rooms we stayed in were looking a little tired too and could do with a general overhaul. The second think was the food. Two of the guests were family visiting from Spain. And both were looking forward to a good English breakfast. Sorry to say that Lumley Castle really let us down. The sausage and bacon looked like it has been warmed gently in water. With no evidence of being in a pan. The tomatoes were the cheapest available. Toast was just standard supermarket fayre and black pudding was run of the mill stuff. I don't think we paid a huge amount for breakfast. But a few pounds extra and a little more care taken would produce a breakfast worthy of a castle.

Room was very small and not clean at all. Looked like it hadn’t been dusted in months. Breakfast was ok but would have been good to get toast and ketchup before we finished it. Coffee was not great. Bar service was good and staff mostly friendly

This is a 14th century castle which has been turned into a beautiful and stylish hotel. The dining room is probably the nicest room I've ever eaten in with its mixture of historic building and modern styling. The bedroom had everything needed except a fridge but not many British hotels have them (in my experience) The staff are friendly and helpful which is normal in the north east but my eating experience here wasn't great. Next time I stay there, I won't eat there.

This is my husbands favourite place to stay so not our first stay at Lumley castle, this time we stayed in a courtyard State room, which was a beautiful large ground floor room with 4 poster bed and corner bath. Lumley is a wonderful enchanting place to stay that is steeped in history. All the staff are really friendly and helpful, the hotel is beautiful and the food is amazing. Would definitely recommend a stay

This was an amazing experience from start to finish. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, from reception to bar to restaurant it was perfect. The rooms are old but being mindful you are in a 15th century castle they too are wonderfully charming. The restaurant food was top quality too. Having travelled from South Wales we are actually trying to find another excuse to come back.

The room was cold and draughty, gap under the ent door, bathroom tiles had grout falling out and the blind barely covered the window to the courtyard. The room we had had a window to the gardens but this was open to all residents so we had to spend the whole stay with the curtains closed even tho it was warm and sunny as we had no privacy. The room above was noisy due to the floorboards clattering and this noise went on all night till 01.45am. All in all we would have had a better night at a budget hotel

An amazing place with a truly unique character, loved our stay here, the food in the restaurant was excellent and not overpriced, the room was small but functional and the staff were excellent. had a nice walk around the grounds after our meal. would definitely stay here again. really enjoyed our stay

Beautiful castle and the rooms are clean and very nicely decorated. The restaurant was sadly a let-down. The food wasn't up to the standard of it's sister hotel, Coombe Abbey, and the service in the restaurant was pretty poor. They didn't have the wine we ordered, so we ordered a different one, and it eventually turned up well after we'd finished our main courses. We asked to see the dessert menu, but after more than 15 minutes the menu still hadn't arrived, so we decided against ordering anything further and went to bed, deciding that it may have just been bad luck and that breakfast the next day would 'make or break' our view of the hotel. Unfortunately, breakfast was just as disappointing. The food was alright, but when we arrived at 9am (the time we had agreed at reception when checking in the night before), we were told that we were 'early' and that they only have two sittings for breakfast, at 7.30am and 9.30am. Two further couples that arrived just after us were told the same thing. We then had to spend our entire breakfast listening to the staff complaining to each other about how reception had got it wrong and that people turning up at different times were causing them problems. It made us feel really awkward and unwelcome. The restaurant was only half full. The key card also states that breakfast is served from 7.30am to 10.30am and not at set times. Overall, a lovely location and a fabulous room, but the restaurant experience spoiled it for us.

Delightful, enchanting and memorable! So many places to explore and things to see in the castle. Lumley Cadtlw is a special experience in all ways- the stay, the dining and the service.
