We checked in fully expecting to receive what seemed like the lovely lake view villa we had paid for. Not so. Instead we had a view of a row of caravans. I genuinely thought this was a mistake. I showed the girl on reception the villa I had booked and I asked to be moved to it. She said they went available, they were fully booked, but I had the same villa with a different view. On the website you can clearly see that the villa with our view is significantly cheaper. She refused to refund either in full-in which case we would have gone elsewhere with a significant saving nor would she part refund. She claimed to have called her managers but they refused to deal with it because they were on holiday-so were we! She said they'd talk about it on Wednesday when we checked out. We said, fine, just give us our money back and we'll leave because if we stay, we have no idea whether we will get the money back or if we would need to get legal advice. They REFUSED to refund us. She said she would get the owner, a guy called 'Gan'. She refused to give us his surname. He came, he told us that it wasn't true, that he was a worker on site and tried to show us his hands to prove it. He had no idea why he had been involved. It was clearly a lie to shut us up. Naturally we were furious by now. Gan, who was lovely, then got the restaurant owner - another lovely man - to apologise for our treatment. The restaurant guy tried to help but the receptionist continued to say that she would not do anything. It is simply not OK for ALL managers to go on holiday at the same time!!! I should add that the receptionist said the manager in question (on holiday, on the phone) was refusing to answer the phone-I have no idea if this was true or not. So, we were stuck - no full or partial refund for a service not provided-just a comment that we had a house on the water. She then ignored us and said she would deal with other people instead. A German family behind us said 'No, that's OK, we have the same problem, they haven't given us what we paid for'...! I should add that at the villa we have a base but no umbrella - the house is practically glass and the temperatures are scorching there is no shade so an umbrella, is desperately needed. Also, there is dog poo in our garden area and the fridge had not been cleaned. They are going to claim that we were angry, we were, but only after being really calm for ages and after an attempted 'dupe' with the handyman. They will say that we booked a water side villa-we did - as per the only image that was available to book for my dates. It was a lake view. As I say, for other days there was my villa at MUCH less. It is surely illegal-surely Holland has a, sales of good act. . A truly second rate experience especially having come from Beekse Bergen where we had our first experience of Holland and it was wonderful as were all the staff and we got everything we paid for. It was faultless.
