The location in Sopocachi is great! It's far enough from the center (without annoying noise and crowds of people, but you can walk 15 minutes to get there). The lounge is open all day, so you can have coffee, tea, water whenever you want, for free. There is a significant difference between the rooms on the ground floor and the rooms on the first floor; the first ones are much better. The closest cable car station is the Yellow line (Sopocachi station) - about 15 minutes walk. The hotel is an island of peace in the middle of a chaotic city. I totally recommend it.

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff are very helpful and accommodating. The first room we were given had a sink tap that wasn't working properly and we were given another room promptly - which was comfortable and satisfactory. We had to deal with BoA for a flight refund - which required a request letter being submitted in Spanish. Gladys the receptionist went beyond the call of duty to draft the letter for us, in addition to helping us make copies of documents that BoA wanted. Hot beverages were available at any time which was much appreciated. Be warned that there are 2 flights of about 15 steps each going up to the entrance/reception - with La Paz being at altitude, even without any mobility/health issues, we were breathless each time we went up!

We stayed here a few times during a mountaineering trip and were extremely pleased. The hotel is located in a fairly quiet part of town. The staff is very attentive and courteous. They even served gluten free bread for breakfast after learning at our initial stay that one in our group had dietary restrictions. The rooms are also very comfortable and rather spacious compared to another hotel we stayed at. Our room also had spectacular views of the city. Also, they were able to store our extra gear when we took a side trip out to Isle del Sol.

We love small independent hotels like El Museo. The service was exceptional and the room was delightful! We had the Jorge Suite with two massive windows overlooking the city and mountains. We loved sitting in bed after a day of visiting with the windows wide open. The room was large, the bathroom and shower were great. There were all kinds of relics from Bolivia’s past including books, typewriters, hats, photographs. Very cool!
