The Villa was super clean and comfortable. It felt like home. The bed and pillows were sooooo cosy. The stuff very nice. The pool area was also very relaxing. The owner was very helpful! Grateful giving me some extra time with the checkout Highly recommended 👌
We had an awful experience at the Seashell dive centre attached to the hotel, and are now out of pocket for 22,000 baht for courses that we couldn’t complete due to the behaviour of the centre manager. We booked and paid upfront for a day of fun dives and 2 AOW courses. After an awful experience where I became very cold and sick on the fun dives due to poor weather conditions and inappropriate kit, we asked to be refunded for the AOW or to wait until conditions were calmer. The manager said that we could not be refunded but could wait for calmer conditions and we extended our time by another week in order to wait for things to calm down. However, the following day we popped into the centre and the managers attitude was completely different, he was rude and difficult and following some very unpleasant interactions with him over the following few days, we took the decision to not go forward with the course. One of the instructors who witnessed the managers behaviour apologised on his behalf giving the excuse that he was in a bad mood as had broken up with his girlfriend ! It was evident that once he had our money, that he had no interest in delivering our course or providing any level of customer care. On the fun dive, kit was poor, with a thin shorty wetsuit provided that was not suitable for the weather conditions, no boots, fins that were too small as they didn’t have any other sizes. Our instructor however was dressed in a full wetsuit and boots etc as said he tends to get cold. There was no provision of snorkels despite PADI guidance stating that these are an essential piece of safety equipment and no basic first aid care / procedures provided for cold, sick customers. When we asked for snorkels, we were told that they are unnecessary and just get in the way. The manager has refused to give his name and diver number despite repeated requests which raises further alarm bells and he ignored all initial emails and messages. Finally, we received a response whereby he said that we had booked onto the course on 3 occasions and not attended. This was completely untrue as no date had been set for us to do it at all. The hotel (who we paid for the course) have not responded to any emails or messages in relation to our complaint and couldn’t have been less interested when I raised it with the reception staff at checkout. My advice is that if you go to Seashell hotel, please AVOID the dive centre. You might be ok if everything is straightforward and you get a good instructor, but if there is a problem then don’t expect any level of care or compassion. We had travelled to Koh Tao to do some fun dives and complete our AOW courses. Our experience at seashell dive centre has ruined our trip to this island. After some detective work, we have established that the dive centre managers name is Hasan Can Toker . I wonder what his reasons for hiding this are ! Again, not the actions of a professional and transparent dive centre manager. As for the hot
Hotel is really nice and well located (10mn driving from pier, 10mn walking/2mn driving from restaurants and nightlife). Calm atmosphere, nice view, easy shuttle to pier or town. Strengh of the place is however the scuba diving school. Hotel has a dedicated 3.5m deep pool to practice. Not sure I could have found a better place to do my Open Water certification. Johnny was the perfect teacher. humanly and technically skilled as well as really friendly and funny. I don't see how I could have had a better trainer.
We visit Thailand a lot and on our last trip, a few months ago to Koh Tao we spotted this property and thought it had the best location and views, being at the end of Sairee beach. We are looking for a resort where we can book the WHOLE place out for a week to celebrate a 70th birthday. (We had just been to a friend’s birthday on Koh Samui for the same purpose.) We booked for 8 nights. Our check in experience was terrible. The staff at the front desk are unfriendly and unhelpful. Our room was right at the top of the property and far away from dining and beach. There was no way we could manage the distance and climb every day. Since the hotel was practically empty they agreed to move us to a much more accessible room for all but the last day of our stay where we would be required to change rooms for one night. On that last night we walked past our “old” room and discovered that no one had moved in and it was empty so we need not have moved! We were never offered any rooms with pool or shown any of the facilities which is a shame. On our own ,we discovered the snorkelling platform, the swing and private dining options etc….on the last day of our stay . All of the other staff, restaurant, beach and cleaning were amazing and I felt the need to tip them directly rather than in the front desk tip box. The food in the restaurant is excellent. The gardens are magnificent. Overall we probably would have spent double our bill had we been offered some of the other options that were available at the property. Koh Tao Cabanas has so much potential and with the right management and a little upgrade could be extraordinary.
訪訪客This place is a little rustic but has some real charm. Set in the rocks on the side of the bay, it is a little steep getting up to the restaurant and back down to the rooms but there are plenty of steps about and you soon get used to the short climb. The site may need a little touch up here and there but the views from the restaurant, the quality, value and flavours of the meals available as well as the efficiency, attentiveness and sheer friendliness of the staff makes up for it. We hired a bungalow which was two separate rooms (both with an ensuite) and with a shared balcony. The property also had a gate for privacy. This was ideal for us as a family of 5, although my youngest (10) had to sleep on a mattress on the floor which she wasn't initially impressed with. However, we had views of the bay from the balcony and, generally, the beds were comfortable and the place quiet. Infact, my husband and I slept with our bedroom doors open, as we could see the sea, and were woken by some beautiful sunrises each morning. We then dozed off again until breakfast. The staff were hugely accommodating and bent over backwards for us all. We were able to borrow the kayaks and life jackets to explore the bay and, for a small fee, the team were able to drop us wherever we needed to go on the island. My husband and I did some diving with Roctopus Dive School and my girls did some try dives but it was no-issue for the Taootoh staff to take and collect us from Sairee Beach. The bay has numerous turtles and each time we snorkelled we saw at least one. It was also highly amusing watching visiting tourist boats come to the bay as you could always tell when someone had spotted a turtle as suddenly a sea of orange (from the life jackets) would move around the bay together. The location of Taatoh is great. It's off the main road and away from the rest of the guesthouses/hotels but within walking distance (10 minutes tops) of the beach, bars and seafront. Just around the corner in the opposite direction is Freedom Beach. You pay a small fee to enter but it was worth it. The beach is small and secluded but the bar has many tables to chill at (overlooking the bay) as well as comfy beanbags. There are so many fish in the waters here and we were lucky enough to see some turtles. We absolutely loved it here and are so pleased we chose it over our other choice on the opposite side of the bay. My girls have asked to go back which is always a good sign! PS - They love cats and have quite a few pets, all well cared for and very friendly.
GGerardEl hotel que mas nos ha gustado en toda la estancia en Tailandia. Ubicacion un poco alejada del centro, pero en moto son 5 minutos. Vistas y lugar inmejorable.
KKevinGthis hotel isn't worth its price. if you want something comfortable, pick something else.
the good: it is family run so the staff is helpful (late checkout), they speak a bit of english. The room is clean and overall it's acceptable.
the bad:
- i felt a total lack of security. The checkin is at the ground floor, then the rooms start from 1 to 4 floor. all floors are accessible by a staircase which is directly accessible to anyone from the main road. Basically there is no garden/private area, the checkin office and the staircase are simply on the road. There is no staff after 8pm and the hotel is situated a little in the back of the town. So basically anyone can walk up the stairs. Then the door locker is really bad, there is no second security lock (which most hotels have) so this is innaceptable due to the fact that the room door is basically accessible to anyone from outside.
- the shower isn't great, the water is hot all day long (by sun) so no way to take a fresh shower at day. at night or early morning, the water is cold (or have to wait at least 5min to drain the water out)
- the hotel is pretty basic. for the same price you can have a swimming pool in another hotel..
訪訪客用戶Great little hotel . Spacious well equipped rooms . Clean towels every day . They also provide beach / pool towels . Good location . Pool is lovely although there’s only 4 sun beds which is a pain . Right on the beach . Ideal for watching those amazing sunsets. Only negative is it’s situated right opposite a noisy hostel which bangs out music till 2am every morning . Nothing out ear plugs didn’t solve though so don’t let it put you off . Nice little beach bars along the beach front . Second time we’ve stayed here . We’ll be back . Also don’t miss the morning view restaurant which is at the front of the hotel . Great food at great prices . God I love this island .
