Our arrival was nothing short of amazing! We were warmly welcomed with a refreshing drink, a beautiful shell mala, and a soothing sandalwood bindi. The traditional dance made us feel so special and added a magical touch to the experience. The room offered a stunning ocean and harbor view, where we could admire majestic ships like the Indian Coastal Guards and Shreyas. The lunch and breakfast were delightful, and the sunset cruise was truly a highlight. During the cruise, we enjoyed sightseeing landmarks like Willingdon Island, Bolgatty, Vypin Island with its iconic fishing nets, the water metro, Aspin Wall, Mattancherry, the bridge, and Taj’s Gundu Island. The cruise ended on a beautiful note with a traditional dance performance and a serene lamp-lighting ceremony. Our evening was elevated further by a mesmerizing Kuchipudi performance. The dancer’s expressions were simply breathtaking! A special surprise awaited us in our room – balloons and a cake thoughtfully arranged by the Taj staff to celebrate my husband’s birthday. It was such a touching and memorable gesture! I also have shared detailed feedback in the note provided in the room. A big thanks to the team for their exceptional hospitality and for making our stay so unforgettable! 😊

We stayed at the Brunton for several nights in November. The hotel is in a bustling area of Fort Cochin, but once you enter through the gates you are in a different world. Everything you could want to see is in striking distance including the shopping area of Jewtown. Go by tuk tuk and absorb the atmosphere! Our first larger room was on the top floor quite close to the ferry which does indeed run from 6am to 10pm but this did not bother us personally. Our second room on a lower floor was at a further distance from the ferry. The furniture here is authentic and if you’re looking for modern contemporary style you’ll be disappointed. The hotel has everything you need, and the beds are super comfortable. The staff at the hotel are friendly and caring, and Jasmine is a very special representative of the staff, always smiling and helpful. The food is excellent, the gym though small is sufficient and the swimming pool is beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and felt privileged to be able to stay there.

We stayed for two nights in a deluxe room on the first floor; the hotel is a lovely old colonial building with beautiful period furniture. The bed was very large and comfortable and we slept under mosquito nets - no bad thing as the window frames are original with gaps! The air con was good and there was a kettle with tea & coffee. It was good to come back after sightseeing and jump in the small plunge pool; the garden was small but had tables and chairs and was nice to sit in. The hotel is halfway down Princess Street which has plenty of cafes for breakfast; Trouvelle opposite which did a brilliant breakfast roll in a fabulous air-conditioned modern bakery. The cakes were to die for! Next to the hotel was a 4* hotel where we had a beer in their bar and also went to the Old Harbour hotel round the corner for dinner.
