冰霜火焰飯店(Frost and Fire Hotel)

Major disappointment. Don’t be fooled by the pictures. Iceland is an expensive country but nothing merits this huuuge cost for this 3-star hotel when we had stayed at a very luxurious hotel in Reykavik just 45 minutes drive away for less. The hotel seemed too worn, the area around it wasn’t at all what I was expecting. Seemed more like a construction place. The windows were full of spider webs, the chairs outside likewise. The cleaniness of the bathrooms subpar. The room was spacious but there were barely any hangers or drawers. The breakfast was the bare minimum. All of this had been alright if the rooms weren’t as expensive. We couldn’t believe that we had been staying at such a luxurious suite in Reykavik with an amazing breakfast for less than this. The extra 44 min drive is totally worth it.

Mitte Juni 2023 verbrachten wir für 7 Tage unseren Aufenthalt in Frost and Fire Hotel und waren sehr zufrieden. Wir hatten ein Balkonzimmer mit Flussblick das sehr schön war, allein der Ausblick, traumhaft. Würde daher nicht die einfacheren Zimmer empfehlen. Das Personal war sehr freundlich, was der isländischen Mentalität entspricht. Frühstück war sehr gut.Die Lage ist ausgezeichnet um die umliegenden Sehenswürdigkeiten zu erreichen. Entfernung von Flughafen Kevlavic 90km und Reykjavik 40km.

The staff here was very friendly and gave us a room upgrade upon arriving. We had dinner at the Varma restaurant and it was excellent. After dinner we brought a bottle of wine out to the natural hot tubs. They have 2, and although it was -2 to 2 degrees outside, the tubs were HOT! They also had robes and candles in our rooms for us to make it very comfortable to go outside and enjoy the natural geothermic river and tubs. Overall, I would highly recommend!

Frost and Fire is the perfect, cozy escape - especially during a very very cold and blizzardy January week. We stayed in the Standard Double (not river facing) and it was super snug, with fantastic underfloor heating in the bathroom and the comfiest bed. We made good use of the fridge and complimentary coffee maker too. Breakfast was such a treat - whether you like hot or cold i the morning, every option was available. There was even a waffle maker, which my partner very much enjoyed! I was particularly fond of the smoked fish and rye bread, as well as the Skyr yogurt! Would also love to give a big five stars to the chef at the hotel restaurent, Varma. The food was utterly amazing and so cool that so much of it was cooked using the hot springs! I particularly loved the smoked trout and the cod, with the smoked lamb not far behind! So many flavours and textures, you'll definitely want to eat there again! Frost and Fire was perfect for me and my partner. We love the outdoors and adored the setting against the hillside and the river. Sitting in the hot tub at 11pm in the snow - perfection! Hveragerdi was also a prime spot for exploring both the south coast and more locally (for example, with a quick jaunt into town, you have a bunch of bars and the foodhall at The Greenhouse). We've already said we'd love to come back in the summer and see more - with Frost and Fire top of our list for future stays!

Lovely breakfast and easy parking. rooms are cramped,no storage except coat hooks, one chair .bathroom cramped and others must leave room to allow someone to change . boutique not more garage extension feel not value for money
