We stopped overnight at Rawdens for the second time in quite a while on the way to the coast, the staff were all friendly and helpful, we had inter leading rooms 17&18 which was very comfortable and clean, we had drinks in the pub in the evening and there was a great atmosphere, the breakfast was excellent with plenty of variety, when we’re in the area again we will definitely stay here again!

The hotel is in a great location but clearly the owners have not invested in this property in years. The rooms and common areas are tired and in some cases carpets are dirty and seem well past replacement age. The curtains in the room were also tired and did not pull properly and the soft furnishings were worn. There is no excuse in this day and age for no internet access in the bedrooms, all the guest in our party complained about this. The breakfast is ok with the eggs being consistently over cooked. When in the common areas there seems to be little sensitivity of guests with staff and management often conversing loudly. Other issues are a lack of room safes and bar fridges as well are poor heating in the room. One to avoid as there are far better options that do not suffer these problems in the area.

Staff make the place! We arrived and somehow, our booking was not in the diary, not sure who was at fault so no blame anywhere. The lady called Stripes, who dealt was us was amazing- all the normal rooms were taken but she managed to fit all 6 of us in cottages and made our dinner reservations too. She came to check on us and made sure we were well looked after numerous times staying to chat and just made us feel very special and at home. Brilliant bit of turning things round for what could have been a very unhappy situation. Well done Stripes.

It is a very nice country estate. The hotel is showing its age and while it is nice to preserve things it could benefit from an update. Many of the floors creak and I was woken twice by people walking down the corridor. Some of the common rooms and dining room are very dated and showing their age. My room was comfortable with a nice bathroom and comfortable bed.

A fabulous experience...beyond delicious food...excellent friendly service...great beds with crispy white bed linen...fluffy white bath towels...beautiful gardens and a warm welcome by the attentive two new managers...superb location..

On our trip through the Natal Midlands we stopped for lunch at Boar's Head Pub for lunch. Besides a stunning setting they offer a wide variety of home brewed beer and Gin. The grilled trout was delicious. They handled our large group well.
