Staff were very casual when we arrived. Throughout our four nigh stay, the manager was present once and the director was completely absent. The staff was mostly friendly and helpful, but not trained. We liked the food at the restaurant very much, but the restaurant was closed two out of the four nights. The breakfast is small and not worth mentioning. Unfortunately, we booked their suite which looked decent in the pictures. If the expensive Schlossherren Suite had the same quality as the regular rooms of the hotel, there would be no reason to complain. Once we moved to a hotel room, we felt very comfortable during the last two nights of our stay. The first two nights, on the other hand, were a massive disappointment as this supposed to be suite resembles an ordinary vacation rental with an outdated bathroom. The description of the suite speaks of it being exclusive and tasteful "It impresses with generosity, comfort, simple elegance and style-defining details." Unfortunately, this does not correspond to what we found, and one can expect from a first-class hotel. Regrettably, the images on the website are selective and don’t include the bathroom. The bathroom is dated and the bathroom door in poor condition. As a result, my wife had great difficulty unlocking the bathroom door and panicked. We had imagined an elegant hotel suite for our honeymoon. What we found, and why we almost left after the first night, was an Air B&B style apartment. One can argue about taste, but less contemporary decoration and good quality furniture would do the suite well. The treatment on the day of departure by the receptionist shook us. I have experienced many things, but I have never been threatened with the police; I wasn’t willing to pay the full price for the first two nights due to the above mentioned shortcomings for this very disappointing suite/apartment. The director repeated this threat on the phone. Incidentally, his behaviour does not make a particularly accommodating and professional impression. To alleviate the frustration of the first two nights, I suggested a 30% discount for the first two nights. After a lot of frustrating back and forth via email the director offered a 15% rebate for the first two nights. We cannot recommend this hotel even though the regular rooms are nice despite their eccentric decoration.
