Klein aber fein. Klein, aber fein. Das Zimmer und das Bad sind klein aber sauber und gepflegt. Freundlicher Empfang durch den Besitzer. Das Frühstück aus diversen feinen Früchten aus dem eigenen Garten, Smoothies und Gebäck sind sehr fein. Grosser, schöner Garten vor dem Haus.

First time at a bed and breakfast This was our first time ever at a bed snd breakfast. I wasn't sure what to expect. I'd say Intimate would be a good word, and friendly. Laurie the owner welcomed us personally, and there were two other couples there. The morning communal breakfast gave us a taste of the local fruits and breads, all hand preparec. The room was comfortable and while there's no A/C, there was no need due to the local nighttime climate. It wasn't near the downtown district, but turned out to be a plus. If you visit Hilo, I highly recommend Old Hawaiian Bed and Breakfast! Thanks for great 2-day stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Hawaiian B&B. The rooms are well appointed, comfy and clean. The property is beautiful and grounds are nice to explore. The breakfast on the lanai is the highlight of staying here. We enjoyed meeting our fellow guests and sharing ideas for what to do in the Hilo area. The breakfast was delicious and filling: fresh fruit from the property, homemade scones and banana bread, fresh squeezed orange juice, hard boiled egg and yogurt. The host was friendly and welcoming. We will stay here again if we are back on the Big Island.

The accommodations were lovely, comfortable and clean but the best selling point about Old Hawaiian are the breakfasts!! Served communally (but a small group--there are only 3 rooms at this B&B), the hostess/owner prepares simple but uber-healthy and beautifully presented foods. Every day there is a choice of two breads (monkey bread for the win!) served alongside a hard-boiled egg, yogurt and THE MOST AMAZING fruits you have ever eaten (most from her own backyard trees). She explains how to eat the more mysterious ones (suck off the cotton-candy like fibers of one, eat the rind of another). Lovely backyard that drops off to a cliff overlooking a river. Great location with ease of access to all things on the Eastern side of the Big Island. The room was spacious with both a bed and a bed-settee as well as comfortable chairs. Updated bathroom with a great shower.
