拉巴丹比斯飯店(Danubius Hotel Raba)

Unbeatable location, less than 5 minutes walk from the railway station. At the beginning of the pedestrian zone. Friendly, helpful and professional staff at the Reception....24h a day. Recently refurbished rooms with a bathtub, powerful A/C, comfortable bed, very good insulation between rooms as well as from the outside.

Auch die Lage ist exzellent: Kurzer Weg zum Bahnhof (gegenüberliegend), in die Altstadt und auch bis zur Donau. Sehr freundliches Personal; an der Rezeption auch multisprachlich kompetente Herren und Damen. Wir hatten ein sehr großes, ausgezeichnet ausgestattetes Zimmer. Auch uns Auto war gut versorgt; Parkplatz direkt am Haus;. Ausgezeichnetes Preis/Leistungs-Verhältnis. Auch empfehlenswert für längeren Aufenthalt; zumal es in Györ und auch in seiner Umgebung Großartiges zu sehen gibt.

This is largish hotel (cca. 150 rooms) in the heart of Gyor, run by the Danubius Hotel company who acquired many Hungarian hotels after the collapse of Communism in a rather shady deal even by the standards of those confused times. The position of the hotel is excellent, but the standard rooms in particular are incredibly small – barely enough space to squeeze by between the bed and the wall. There is air conditioning, but no refrigerator and no coffee making facilities, so overall these rooms cannot qualify as four star accommodation. There is nowhere to sit except at the end of bed, very little space for suitcases and a minuscule built-in wardrobe. The bathrooms have not been fully renovated and are extremely small. Parking is a major problem – the hotel has some paying spaces that fill up quickly, street parking is limited and rather expensive, although there are some parking garages some blocks away. Overall, the hotel offers an acceptable overnight accommodation, but cannot be recommended for longer stays or for those seeking a higher standard of comfort.

Ein Highlight ist das beleuchtete und mit Musik unterlegte Wasserspiel. Personal freundlich und hilfsbereit. In der ersten Junior Suite war die Haustür kaputt. Man besorgte uns umgehend ein anderes Zimmer mit riesigem Balkon und Blick auf das Rathaus. Das Hotel ist in die Jahre gekommen, wir haben uns aber trotzdem wohl gefühlt. Das Frühstücksbuffet enthält alles was das Herz begehrt!

PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THE BATHS! I was very pleased to find one in my modestly priced “ standard “ room.As well as a bath, there was a good sized deep basin with working plug ,and a WC which flushed powerfully. All of these things are normally lost when a bathroom is “ refurbished”.Spend your money on something else,please.The new fittings will certainly not last 50 years as the last ones have.The enamel bath still sparkles. The remainder of my room was equally functional,in a 70s style .Useful updates were new carpet , and an exceptionally effective and controllable airconditioner. There is plenty of light from a simple setup,and the new windows keep out the traffic noise.There was actually room to put all my clothes away tidily,and the safe was exceptionally big and easy to use.The fridge was not cluttered by cheap things I would not want, and was very efficient. The only deficiency was a little painting required on doorframes etc. A “ designer” could easily ruin this room after wrecking the bathroom. This is a bigger hotel than I prefer,but at least the lifts are exceptionally fast,and the breakfast room is large enough. My only criticism is that breakfast is a bit sp****.The baked goods run out quickly,and croissants were only seen by me one morning out of six.Although it supplies a good brand, the juice concentrate machine repeatedly runs out of supplies, and the staff take no action when told of this.The box of teas is almost exclusively fruit infusion , not tea in the normal sense, which ran out on day three out of six.Perhaps breakfast should be charged a little higher to allow improvement. There is a modern “ boutique” hotel in Gyor to compare with this.It offers twice the price for less than half the comfort.

Eigentlich sollte eine Suite für 3 Personen auch 3 vollwertige Betten haben! Dies war leider nicht der Fall. Das 3. Bett war alles andere als eine vollwertige Schlafgelegenheit! Vollkommen unzufrieden!!!!! Der Teppichboden sollte nach etliche Jahre ausgetauscht werden! Ist ebenso für die Sessel im Restaurant 1.Klasse gültig! Diese sind abgenützt und schäbig! Schade! Vor 25 Jahren als ich das Hotel zuletzt besuchte war alles noch frisch!

Irgendwie erinnerte mich das Hotel an meine Zeit im sozialistischen System. Sicher war das Hotel Raba mal ein gehobenes Haus. Ein bisschen Glanz findet man da und dort noch. Beim Einchecken wurde mir erst mal gesagt, dass die Zeit noch nicht heran ist einzuchecken und ich aber mein Gepäck stehen lassen könnte. Keine Ahnung, warum man in so einem riesigen Hotel kein freies Zimmer für einen Anreisenden hat oder zumindest mal im System nachschaut. Ich bekam dann ein Zimmer in der 5. Etage, die man wohl mal baulich aufgesetzt hatte, der Fenstersims begann in Brusthöhe. Das Zimmer an sich war renoviert und vernünftig ausgestattet. Die Sehenswürdigkeiten von Györ kann man vom Hotel alle fußläufig erreichen. Das Frühstück war Standard, immer fehlte mal was und das vielfältig herumlaufende jugendliche Personal versuchte sein Bestes zu geben, kam aber noch nicht mal mit der Kaffeesatzentleerung der Maschine klar, Lehrpersonal war nicht vorhanden. Das Hotel ist als preiswerte und bahnhofsnahe Zwischenübernachtung geeignet.

One night stay during our travels - not value for money. Poor breakfast (many items finished very early) and staff in the restaurant as well as on the bar weren’t that keen on serving staying guests. Room was deluxe version, but the bathroom smelled bad for the entire stay. Bed and aircon were positive items of our stay.
