Stopped here for a night with a group of ten friends, after a day mountain biking in the area. Tracy had been very helpful prior to arrival arranging suitable rooms for us to share, and on the day Courtney was a star getting all of us checked in and taking split payments - a task I can only liken to herding cats - and it was all done with good humour. The welcome and hospitality was first class - we sat and drank in the bar for a while after our arrival and Tracy and the girls joined in with our banter, which made for an enjoyable start to a night out in Richmond. Rooms are to the standard you'd probably expect of an old pub/hotel "with character" - i.e. you wouldn't come here expecting designer bathroom suites, modern double glazing, lifts and all that. Think stairs, winding corridors, creaky floors and woodwork/windows that have been part of the building for some time. Room had TV, lots of tea/coffee, biscuits, nice comfy bed etc. All clean. The ensuite to my room was maybe a little tired and ready for a refresh, but it was all functional, warm and suited my needs for an overnight stay. Good choice of breakfast; a selection of cooked options ordered & brought to table, as well as various self-serve cereals, bread/toaster, juices, coffee, tea etc. Most of our group took the full English, one or two comments about the bacon being a bit fatty but on the whole well enjoyed and served with the same smile and friendliness as experienced the night before. Car park at the rear, although small (maybe around 7-8 cars) and does get full.
