金塔達貝拉維斯塔飯店(Quinta da Bela Vista)

Nach mehreren Nächten stellt man natürlich das ein oder andere Manko fest. Für uns befindet sich jedoch alles insgesamt noch auf einem Niveau, wo es dem Stil angemessen scheint. Sehr stilvoll insgesamt und die Professionalität bzw der Umgang der meisten Angestellten mit den Gästen auf einer gelungenen Ebene. Man darf tatsächlich das P/L nicht außer Acht lassen. Nicht für jeden das richtige, doch selbst die Lage ist für uns ein super Kompromiss.

Fernab vom Trubel der Innenstadt liegt dieses klassische Anwesen mitten in einem feinen Wohnviertel mit Blick auf das Stadtpanorama und den Schiffsanleger. Eine altehrwürdige, und zugleich moderne Villa mit Anbauten inmitten eines wunderschönen Parks beherbergt dieses 5-Sterne Hotel, in dem wir uns rundum wohlgefühlt haben. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Balkon und guter Aussicht mit reichhaltigem Frühstücksbuffet. (Auf Wunsch werden Eierspeisen individuell zubereitet.) Es gibt die Wahl zwischen dem erstklassigen a-la-Carte Restaurant in dem ältesten Haus, dem Menü-Restaurant für Halbpension und dem kleinen Restaurant am Pool. Überall konnte man flexibel buchen und zu vernünftigen Preisen sehr gut essen. Das Hotel ist trotz seines Alters ausgezeichnet erhalten, nicht zuletzt eine Schar von Mitarbeitern kümmert sich um jedes Detail. Das eher etwas ältere Publikum (kaum Familien) kommt überwiegend aus England. Für junge Leute eignet sich vermutlich eher ein Hotel unten am Stadtrand in der Hotelmeile. Zum Strand läuft man zu Fuß 30 Minuten, allerdings - wie typisch für Madeira - eine steile Anhöhe runter am riesigen Stadion vorbei. Das Auto kann man gut auf dem Innenhof parken. Ein Shuttle fährt ins CityCenter. Das Personal ist auffallend freundlich und stets hilfsbereit. Neben Pool und Fitness, Sauna und Jacuzzi kann auch ein hoteleigener Tennisplatz kostenfrei genutzt werden. Durch die Lage in einem Wohnviertel finden sich in der Nähe auch ein Supermarkt und Geschäfte. Ein idealer Ort zum Entspannen, absolut ruhig und doch stadtnah, gut geeignet als Ausgangspunkt für Entdeckungsreisen über die Insel.

hotel that was certainly a good hotel in the 70s but has been completely neglected and has certainly not been the subject of any renovation, and this can be seen in the rooms, in the social areas, in the swimming pool, and even in the staff, always with a dark and somewhat sinister air . As it was certainly a reference in the distant 70s (or thereabouts), it is clear that the clientele is from that generation. There's a lot of "wandering" and the smell of mothballs." feeling of a geriatric clinic

This hotel is absolutely charming. And what makes it so is not just the beautiful building and gardens, but the excellent staff that ensure its efficient, friendly and welcoming ambiance. Every single member of staff we encountered were polite, friendly and keen to give their guests the best possible holiday experience. Carina in the dining room is a shining example of this, though all wait staff were equally wonderful too. A special mention too must be made of the chefs, who provided the incredibly tasty and beautifully presented 4-course evening meals. No two menus were the same, including a different fish course every night. Wines were very good value too and very good quality. The hotel is high up the hill, but a free shuttle service takes you down into Funchal and back and a local bus stop close by the hotel will take you to many parts of the island for just 1.95 euros. I thoroughly recommend this hotel for those who like a quiet, but classy place to stay. Not really for children though.

Staying at this hotel lets you enter into a beautiful old world experience. The building is decorated in muted colours with antique furnishings. The pathways through the gardens are a little uneven with the local small cobble type surfaces On our arrival the receptionist could not have been more helpful and charming. Our room was not ready so she took us through the verdant gardens to show us the pool, bar etc. The gardens are beautiful with mature trees and colourful shrubs. The garden view room itself was comfortably furnished - it was nice to have 2 easy chairs. We had specified a double bed, which we got, but the fittings clearly were tailored to accept twin beds which was a little odd. All usual amenities were present: we had a bath with shower over, plenty of wardrobe space, tea making tray and a mini bar. Our air conditioning didn’t work but this was a fault across several rooms awaiting parts and fitting. We had half board. The breakfast spread covered all tastes with continental and English items available along with fruit, pastries, cereal. The evening meal was 4 set courses with that evening’s menu on display in reception each morning to allow you to provide notice to the chef of any dietary changes needed. All the food we had was delicious. A varied wine list enabled us to select reasonably priced bottles to accompany the food. The pool is looking rather tired and the water was cold. However warmer than usual weather made this area appealing and pleasant. Like the rest of the hotel this area was kept clean and leaves and blossoms were regularly cleared by grounds staff. The real jewel in the crown of this hotel is the staff. Throughout our stay each member of staff we encountered was efficient and cheerful. The smooth operation of the restaurant was ensured by the way the staff worked together. We really felt as though we were welcome visitors.

We are used to hotels not getting everything right for guests, but the Quinta da Bela Vista is an exception. The entire staff works together as a team and is well managed to make your stay comfortable. We stayed in a 'Garden Room' located in an annexe building next to the main hotel. As a result, it was very quite and in a lovely tropical garden setting. The hotel has a period feel with some interesting traditional furniture in the manor House, but its decor is clean & modern without the chrome and glitz. The paths are paved with pebbles set in concrete as is a common use of materials in Madeira. They don't suit high heels or wheeled cases and quality trainers are the best footwear. Their porter can take your suitcases from the small car park or entrance to your room. The hotel is set on the West side of Funchal at some height. Walking to Funchal and back would be a trek, but they provide a minibus service running to and from Funchal about every 2 hours. Our inclusive dinners were 4 courses with varied daily menu and well prepared. Breakfast was a buffet with an excellent choice of food, including cooked English! Our only criticism is we found the restaurant a bit too bright and noisy with some tables too close for privacy. But there are options for A La Carte Buffet in the Manor house.

If you're looking for serene elegance and relaxation with lovely food and a wonderful team of staff then this is a place to go. Being well out of the town in a peaceful hillside location does mean you may spend a fair amount of time in and around the hotel but the facilities are good and it has everything you need. Our superior room had a small balcony in the main building. The air-con in the room was excellent, and the bathroom was steam free faster than any other hotel we have visited. We found the furnishings very comfortable, and there was a residents' lounge with sofas, books, computer, board games and a wide balcony overlooking the gardens. The food was excellent. Healthy, varied, restrained on the carbs and focused on good quality ingredients in good but not excessive portions. We had the half board fixed 4-course evening meals. Each one had a starter, a fish course, a meat course and a dessert. Only a few wines by the glass but they were delicious and decent value. The hotel staff, without exception, are friendly and quietly efficient, ensuring that all guests' needs are attended to as best they can. We were always put at our ease and very well looked after. The pool is kept very clean by the staff who we saw clearing filters two or three times a day, removing leaves and flowers that had blown in, keeping pool towels and sunbeds readily available. There's even "Lucky" the hotel cat to keep everyone company! The courtesy bus is handy, taking it one way is fine, and taxis down into town are not terribly expensive (7-10 euros depending on how far down you want to be dropped off). Admittedly this is an hotel which will attract, shall we say, the more mature visitor but if you want a relaxing holiday this would be very hard to beat.

Wir waren 14 Tage in diesem wunderschönen Hotel mit einem parkähnlichen Garten zu Gast. Wenn man Ruhe und Erholung sucht, dann ist man an diesem Platz genau richtig. Die Anlage liegt oberhalb des Stadtzentrums, somit hat man einen tollen Blick auf die Bucht. 300 Meter entfernt befindet sich ein großer Supermarkt. Es gibt zahlreiche Bushaltestellen in der Nähe. Wenn man also nicht Hotel eigenen Shuttlebus nutzen möchte, dann nimmt man sich einen städtischen und fährt mit Einheimischen. Die Busse bringen Sie dann in das Zentrum von Funchal oder zum Monte.
