Staying in this hotel was a treat from the moment we arrived. A warm professional welcome from Conrad who could not have been more helpful in suggestions for our stay. The room was one of the nicest I’ve ever stayed in, and the breakfast was exceptional. Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer, but we certainly will on a future visit.

Last Word is a beautiful little boutique hotel perfectly situated at the end of the Main Street in Franschhoek. From the moment we arrived Conrad and his team couldn’t do enough to ensure a perfect stay for us and our friends. Our room was vast with a sitting area, enormous bathroom and super comfy bed. The decor was reminiscent of a Kit Kemp interior. The common areas were spotless and the small pool provided a lovely opportunity to cool down. There’s a welcoming sitting room shared by all guests with the most well stocked honestly bar I’ve ever encountered. Breakfast in the quirky but tastefully decorated dining area was of a high standard and nothing was too much trouble for the team. It was super easy to walk to everything in Franschhoek including numerous wine farms and all the main sites and shops. It was the perfect place to stay for a 3 night visit to due to the location, standard of accommodation and the friendly professional service.

The Last Word is the reason I decided to write my first review. Our expectations were exceeded especially with the warm welcome we received from the manager. I loved the attention to detail, cleanliness & service! I am already looking forward to my next stay!

Wow. Right from the outset everything was superb. I’d managed to get a pick up from the house in Gordon’s Bay and Ellis arrived in a big 7-seater to transport us in comfort. Conrad met us and had organised an early check in.. and after that nothing was too much trouble, and all the staff were lovely. Breakfast was amazing - and huge so it set us up for the day. Each morning Amanda, Anita and the other waitress (I’m sorry I didn't make the effort to remember her name) got our hot breakfast order spot on. And my need for gluten free (I’m coeliac). Turn down service brought a couple of espresso cups filled with crème brûlée one night, and then chocolate mousse on another. Our last night they’d decorated the room with tens of tea-lights! Just wonderful. The pool area, while small, is very well done with clean towels on every lounger. I don’t think I ever saw any discarded towels from previous users - everything was immaculate. The honesty bar was a nice touch. Free soft drinks and only 20ZAR for any spirits. Good choice, constantly replenished ice cube bucket. For me it was always the little things that they seemed to notice and take care of. Conrad also gave us some passes for the gym around the corner. Franklin also interacted with us during our stay and again nothing was an issue if we had questions or requests. The training they’ve given their staff is exceptionally good and we’d love to return next time we’re in SA.

An absolutely fabulous place to stay where the staff are so pleasant and just cannot do enough for you. The rooms are incredibly comfortable and the breakfasts are delicious. The location is wonderful and most places you want to visit are within walking distance.

A very warm welcome from the manager, who introduced the staff to us. Accommodation was incredible, so spacious and extremely comfortable. The Manager suggested places to eat that were nearby. I would recommend this establishment to anyone travelling through the area.

Welcomed by the Manager and accommodated despite an early arrival into our Superior Room (really an extensive suite offering every amenity including white port decanter, drinks fridge and gin!) this hotel is ideally positioned and suited to enjoy the heart of this safe, pretty and welcoming town. Beautiful pool and terraces with a generous free bar: what more could you wish for!?! It’s the special, individual touches that greet your return to your room each night that we will remember….be it a pillow-treat or a romantic candle illuminated welcome.

What a lovely hotel. The room was beautiful, the pool area a perfect place to relax, and the welcome was unbelievably friendly. Everything is small, boutique, and delightful! We were only there two nights, but there were so many lovely little touches, especially the little 'pillow deserts' instead of chocolates. A lovely base from which to explore Franschoek. We'd happily come back.
