I had to interact with the most rude & behaviorally-inept check-in employee that I’ve encountered at a hotel in years of worldwide travel.
When she assigned me to a handicapped room, & I had questions about why (considering that I had a confirmed pre-paid reservation in non-handicapped room) she was:
-incapable of calm, rational conversation, much less problem-solving prowess
-engaged in nonsensical circular arguments lacking any semblance of forward-motion or logic.
-was passive-aggressive with a thick haughty attitude
-engaged in tactics such as eye rolling, & maneuvering her neck/head in hostile body language
-speaking in a raised voice
-sighing deeply
—leaning on the side counter with her elbow as if the conversation was physically exhausting her
-as well as gaslighting me 10 minutes later by stating that the reason she wasn’t able to solve the problem through conversation with me was because I was “obviously more comfortable” talking to her white-skinned counterpart than I was with her (when the other female employee had walked-up on the conversation & offered to continue it because the initial woman stood to the side, silent, with her arms crossed.)
I get this fairly regularly, & it is always after they’ve initially told me I’m beautiful & how much they love my outfit/shoes—which was the case here. I’m a psychologist: it’s passion aggression due to embarrassment bc of perceived in adequacy. Extremely lame employee behavior, and a cancer on Marriot.
