莫瑞斯飯店(Moorings Hotel)

We booked in for 8 people for a Chris**as Part Night, outwith the Hotel's control noone else booked in so it was cancelled but we still went for a Chris**as dinner and had an overnight stay. The check in/welcome we got was the best we have had, thank you so much. I was welcomed by name and shown our room, then offered an upgrade! Nothing was too much trouble and the rooms were absolutely lovely. After a long drive and all the stress associated with arranging a family get together this was a welcome treat. We loved staying here and would definitely come back, the location is lovely and we had a nice walk along the canal. The only (slight) negative was that it was really obvious we were the only ones in and the kitchen was struggling, which was a shame. We had our table booked for 7pm and at 8.10pm the very nice waiter was asking us to please get all our orders in for pudding as the kitchen were waiting to close, some of use weren't finished our main courses. We did feel a bit rushed and the food, which vast in quantity, was a little bit lacking - the veg were over cooked, spouts burned and the sticky toffee puddings were served cold. We did get a an email beforehand asking us to pre-order and this perhaps explains why but I wish the hotel had said the kitchen would be looking to shut at 8pm!! We ordered 3 Baileys after dinner and the bar struggled to give us 3 as they were running out. We got 3 teenyweeny measures... Everyone had a lovely time though.

We booked The Moorings hotel for its views of Ben Nevis and canal side location, both of which were indeed there. From the advert the hotel also looked to be of modern construction; although on our arrival that only applied to the modern extension that is occupied by the restaurant on the ground floor and rooms above. The Moorings claims 4 AA stars, and we booked thinking the AA was a brand we could trust. At £145 for the night The Moorings is some distance from high end boutique level, but we were expecting a degree of comfort for our money. Having spent a happy fortnight sleeping in hotels and B&Bs throughout Scotland I can clearly state the bed at The Moorings was the least comfortable of the entire trip. Behind the modern extension the hotel is probably best described as “tired”. The curtain in the bedroom was hanging off the rail and there was a noisy, apparently constant, fan in the bathroom. At risk of appearing eccentric, I also appreciate a hotel where the shower actually works without my having to stand next to the bath and hold the switch in the on position while my wife showers. Arriving in the restaurant in the morning I was informed by the front of house staff that breakfast was not included in the room rate and would be another fifteen pounds each. Until it arrived this seemed reasonable: burned croissants and a charred, dried up full breakfast however finished me off as far as The Moorings goes; and it seemed important to warn others this establishment really isn’t somewhere to consider staying. The Moorings only saving grace is its staff, who were charming and clearly doing their best in what can only be considered difficult circumstances. I would advise them to leave as soon as possible for a better run hotel, which in the current staffing crisis would no doubt welcome such hard working, pleasant, people with open arms. Having looked now on The AA web site I can find no listing for The Moorings, despite the branded AA **** sign at the hotel entrance.

Start Great Glen Way en hier verbleven. Prima ruime kamer, goed restaurant en prachtige locatie. Ontbijt niet super maar ok. Teveel prefab en hou op met fruit uit blik. Nadeel was de waterdruk van de douche. Die druk was er helaas in het geheel niet. Jammer.

Fra tutte le strutture utilizzate in questo viaggio (che vanno dal soggiorno in Campus a Edimburgo) al Castello (letteralmente), passando per appartamenti, ecc, questa è quella col peggior rapporto qualità/prezzo. Location incantevole (di fronte al Ben Nevis) e strategica per la viabilità, ma pagare una cifra simile una stanza in cui arrivano odori dalla cucina, rumori di bidoni rovesciati, con personale mediamente inconsapevole (con poche, preziose eccezioni) ti fa pentire della scelta. La struttura è tipica e super carina, ma una notte ,con un pranzo, una cena ed una colazione sono state più che sufficienti a decidere di non tornarci, in futuro.

Décevant et cher ! Hôtel vieillissant, très bien situé en face du Ben Navis. Mais l'hôtel est d'un autre temps. Insonorisation désastreuse, décoration ancienne, salle de bain des années 70... Le tout pour le prix d'un hôtel de luxe, ce qu'il n'est pas ! Sans compter des prestations de restauration décevantes.

If you have booked this hotel CANCEL it Read the latest reviews none are exaggerated. At best a 2 star rating. Must be the only hotel in Scotland that doesn't have butter! If your not fussed you could make do with the Continental breakfast, a tin of mandarins.

Das Hotel liegt direkt an der Touristenattraktion "Neptun's Staircase", einer Kombination von wohl 8 Schleusen, nachts trotzdem sehr ruhig. Unser Eckzimmer mit Balkon war wunderschön, bot eine tolle Aussicht auf Berge und Schleusen, sehr hell. Gute, bequeme Betten, schönes, großes Duschbad. Freundliches, aber wohl überfordertes Personal, besonders die Reinigungskräfte. Am Ankunftstag waren die Zimmer nicht fertig, am 2. Tag war bis 14 h trotz ausgehängter Reinigungskarte nichts geschehen, sodass eine Nachfrage nötig war. Die Fenster waren kaum noch durchsichtig vor lauter Schmutz, offenbar lange nicht mehr geputzt. Frühstück war eher unter Durchschnitt nach vielen besseren Erfahrungen in Schottland; Kaffee lauwarm, Fehlendes wurde lange nicht nachgelegt. Abendessen für unseren Geschmack sehr unterschiedlich, köstlich immerhin die Muscheln, gute Auswahl an leckerem Fassbier. Schön und gemütlich das Restaurant. Insgesamt schöpft das Haus sein Potential leider nicht wirklich aus, es fehlt an ganz vielen Stellen, die Führung lässt ersichtlich zu wünschen übrig, schade drum. Wir haben unseren Urlaub dort trotzdem genossen.

Booked a Superior Double room and was extremely disappointed. This is not a 4 star hotel. Damaged bath, stained and disintegrated carpet and stained sofa. Pillows were hard and extremely uncomfortable and the only toiletries supplied was a hand wash dispenser in the shower. The older part of the hotel needs work, with damaged stairs and tired looking decor. No reception staff to complain to, as it was self check in and check out. The only positive comment I have about the Moorings, is that the cleaning and restaurant staff were lovely.

Average food at a slightly excessive price, service with food was ok but attempts at getting drinks at the bar afterwards were disgusting! We should really say what service at the bar. Appalling trea**ent of guests who are staying in the hotel! A poor Lady in front of us came down to say her shower wasn’t working only to be told we’ll deal with it later! This has put me off returning now, goodness knows how a complaint towards the cold vegetables may have been taken…..
