Inch of dust under beds to point you couldn’t see the carpet pattern. Only 2 coffee pods provided for 3 nights of stay with 4 people in the room. Called housekeeping for more and they promised to bring them but never did. When trying to get more we went to the front desk but it was left unmanned so long we gave up. Asked for the room to be serviced after our second night and instead they just left us more towels on a chair. Didn’t take old towels. Didn’t make bed. Didn’t empty overflowing trash. Didn’t vacuum when it clearly needed it. Restaurants were overpriced and the food was bad. We had a huge anniversary party (13 people) that ate together 5 times at the various hotel restaurants and were never given more than one waiter. I must say they wowed me with just how bad a hotel can execute. I would have left after first night but it would have been rude to the couple celebrating their anniversary so we held our nose and put on a good face for them.

This hotel is highly overrated. This outdated, dirty, run down rooms are horrible. No lamps in the 3 different rooms, filth under furniture in all rooms. They try to sell this hotel on the basis of Stephen King. Don’t fall for it like we did. A quality in. Would have been more comfortable and clean. The mattresses are saggy and pillows are so huge you can’t lie in them. Not sure who runs this place but they do not know what they are doing. It is NOT luxury!!!!

We checked into the Stanley 1/13/24. Room 1 -After a long day of travel all we wanted was to lay down only to notice the bed was broken and our feet were elevated about 7-8 inches above our head. The front desk said they would send someone but it would take a while, I requested to move rooms, and we did. Room 2- We showered and then pulled back the sheets to get in bed to notice that the sheets we covered in blood and pee stains. The fact that the cleaning crews found this acceptable and continued to make the bed knowing the sheets appeared like this was astounding. By this time it’s 12pm and I had to walk back outside in -12° weather to go to the front desk because shocker the phone in the room wasn’t worker. And the front desk gentleman was so kind and just in shock and was more than gracious and got us rebook to now our third room. Room 3-He moves us into the main hotel on the 3rd floor suite 303, we walk in and are immediately hit with a terrible smell, kind of like moldy cheese and stinky feet. We are exhausted so we set our stuff down and begin to make our way into the bedroom area from the living room when my husband is in pain from stepping on exposed carpet staples from the torn carpet. Annoyed at this point from all this we just want to go to bed and put all of this behind us… and well, we can’t due to the lovely neighbors in the room next to us blaring music until about 2am. We walk downstairs and tell the front desk gentleman who kindly asked the neighbors to turn it down. Peace at last… nope, here comes all the guest from the concert that happened, yelling and hollering through the halls. It’s apparent that their bartenders over served and no one is there to stop them from acting this way. When you spend close to $400 a night to stay at this hotel you expect a little more than feeling like you are staying at a rundown frat house. We get maybe 1-2 hours of sleep this night, which I would like to mention is our first day at the Stanley hotel and we’ve already switched rooms 3 times. We get up and get ready to go have breakfast at the Brunch and Co, we walk outside and head over to the lodge, we wait a few minutes and the hostess goes “did you make a reservation? Cause if not it’s a 45 minute wait”. I think I’m literally in shock at this point. So let me get this straight, the only breakfast restaurant on the hotels property requires a reservation in order to eat. Interesting. So I place a to go order online. Says about 30 minute wait for food, so I walk back over about 45 minutes later to find out my food hadn’t even been started yet. I honestly just give up at this point and go back to our hotel room. When I’m like you know what would fix this all, a nice hot shower. The shower door only slides open about 6 inches so you have to squeeze yourself through the door… and the cherry on top was, NO HOT WATER! At this point we are completely fed up and if we didn’t have an event to attend at the hotel we would have left in a heart beat. We g

So our trip started off by finding out there was a mix up on our reservation, I’m not sure if it was mine or theirs but it still messed things up. We were supposed to be in the main building with 2 beds but due to this mix up we were put into the lodge where we had a king bed and a pull out couch.. we were fine making this work for a night but had hoped to move back to the main building for the last two nights. When we inquired about this the front desk manager Nick was very rude and was not willing to help at all, his attitude toward not only is but the gentleman ahead of us was less than hospitable. …. We just made the room given work but he needs some hospitality training for sure! Now we went over to the Wine bar where we encountered David.. he was so nice as were the other two ladies that worked in the wine bar! David gave a piano tour of the 1900 piano that’s in the music room (aka wine bar) that was so interesting, and he sings, and let me tell you he has a wonderful voice! We spent quite a bit of time in the wine bar the staff there were just so inviting! We also did 2 tours.. the Shining tour and the Ghost of the Stanley tour! We were unaware of the Shining tour and by the time we found out they only had room for 1 more on the tour.. we were at the Stanley to celebrate my daughters 16th birthday this was her choice for her Birthday trip.. when we asked if there was any way at all to get 2 on the Shining tour the gentleman at the desk worked it out so that my daughter and husband got to go! Ian was his name and he was a joy to encounter as was the tour guide on both our tours, I believe her name was Elizabeth! Over all we enjoyed our trip but I think we could have done with out Nick at the front desk!!

DO NOT STAY at the Stanley. We coughed all night. Our bed actually had years of dust about 1/2 deep under our beds. When I informed them they seemed unconcerned and said our room had been cleaned but the other rooms would be cleaned under the beds with Spring cleaning! Spring is 3 months from now! Pillows were awful which seems incidental compared to their lack of concern for cleanliness and clients health. They should be shut down!

Estes Park is a charming town filled with great restaurants, cute shops, beautiful scenery and wildlife. While here we visited the Stanley Hotel we took the guided tour our guide was so knowledgeable and I highly recommend for any Stephen King fan but even if your not the architecture was gorgeous! One night of beautiful scenery and adventures starting with checking in at a nostalgic lobby onto a 6pm night tour of the hotel , scary photos included, next Dinner at Cascades , don’t miss the Seance with Hannibal on 2nd floor, with drinks at the wine bar following… don’t break the circle ⭕️

In February 2023, after researching Estes Park hotels and then speaking with one of your staff members I booked 2 rooms with the understanding that these rooms were renovated and that the hotel was handicapped accessible. We were coming for a family wedding and wanted to stay in a quality hotel. Your company took over $1000 as deposit for these rooms and collected interest on them for almost 8 months. The day prior to arrival I did the online check in as directed so that when we arrived we were supposed to simply pick up key. We arrived on 9/29 and stood in a line for over 15 minutes. The clerk didn’t have my name on either reservation even though I had just confirmed them. She finally found them and had to go through registration all over and gave us our keys. We each went to our rooms. First off, the only thing visibly renovated was new finishes on the shower surrounds, new lighting in the bathroom. The bathroom shower has no bench or niche, no bath mat, no fan or ventilation. The towels were threadbare, some w/ holes and nothing I have ever experienced. I have cleaning rags with thicker hand. There were no additional toiletries except a tube of lotion. There was no makeup/magnifying mirror. The vanity was broken and worn The door to the bath if not original was dilapidated. The room-a window air conditioner. In the window a towel was stuffed. The gaps around the entry door were so obvious you could see light and hear the hallway noises. The cabinetry was banged up, walls scuffed. The bed while beautiful had mattresses that felt like they were from 1910-lumpy and sagging. The pillows were all overstuffed-none of them being a squishier one and thus too high for my neck and also for my sister in law’s. The bed linens were average but not what you find at a luxury hotel. There were no charging stations nor conveniently located outlets. To reach a bedside lamp, you would have to sit up to the edge of the bed. A coffee maker was on the desk. No bottled water nor a safe or refrigerator. These are all at a minimum of what a $500 a night room would offer. If you tried to call the concierge or front desk, it would ring and then disconnect. This was constant. We finally gave up and went downstairs to find the concierge. None could be found. The front desk staff as well as almost everyone else we encountered on property were uninformed and not helpful. You would think people in the hospitality industry would acquaint themselves with local surroundings or at least what is on property. When dining, even taking out on property, we waited almost 20 minutes for someone to even take our order. Then another 30 to get our to go order. The parking areas were so dark it was a hazard walking back to the hotel. I sprained my ankle in the dark on Saturday evening. After a trip to the doctor and xrays, I am in a boot for 2 weeks. No toilet pape in my other family members room. The construction workers were loud and disruptive both in the late evening and earl.y morning for my other 2 guests (my family) mind you …. The rooms cost a fortune and the construction workers clambering and hollering in the hallways was totally disruptive and unprofessional. The ghost tour was not at all like previous tour as far as the same rooms shown and not as exciting ..$30.00 a person. Room service came other family’s room and said that they thought they were gone already. This experience was not class act…not at all what we paid and not at all what it should have been ….. disappointed.
