Amritara河邊豪華帳篷(Amritara Riverside Luxury Tents)

Ein wunderschöner Ort in der puren Natur. Wir waren für eine Übernachtung im Hornbill Camp und übernachteten in einem „Zelt Haus“ direkt am Wasser.. Die Accomodation ist sehr einfach aber das hatten wir auch so erwartet. Ein Bett, eine Veranda, ein einfaches Bad: alles wunderbar. In dem überdachten Lounge Bereich wird morgens/ zur Lunchtime/ abends ein frischgekochtes Essen serviert, je nach Bedarf. Wir unternahmen am Abend nach der Ankunft gleich eine Kajaktour mit dem sehr netten und freundlichen Aravind, der uns durch Periyar leitete. Die Abendstimmung auf dem stillen Fluss war unvergleichlich! Am farauf folgenden Morgen brachen wir sehr früh zur Birdwatching Tour auf. Wir haben uns für die längere entschieden, die weiter entfernt startet und wo *** wohl eine grössere Chance auf die Vielfalt der Vögel hat. Das war großartig, doch wir haben überlegt, ob die kürzere Tour in den dem Camp gegenüberliegenden Wald, wo *** hinlaufen und sich dort umschauen kann, vielleicht ebenso schön ist. Das würden wir beim nächsten Mal ausprobieren! Das einzige, was ich mir noch gewünscht hätte, wäre die Möglichkeit gewesen, sich zwischendurch ein kaltes Getränk zu organisieren- eine kleine Bar oder so etwas- aber vielleicht passt das auch gar nicht zum Konzept. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt, wir bedanken uns auch nocheinmal bei dem sehr, sehr freundlichen und hilfsbereiten Personal und besonders bei Aravind, der uns sehr professionell und herzlich betreut hat!

Endroit magnifique et calme. Le calme après la ville et une nature foisonnante. Les repas sont bons et l'équipe d'accueil super. Je Conseil vivement de passer deux jours ici et pour les amoureux des oiseaux beaucoup plus. Possibilité de canoë et fléchette le soir....

Hornbill camp provides a fantastic "glamping" experience on the banks of the Periyar river. The setting is truly stunning and makes up for some of the shortcomings of the resort. The food is average by South Indian resort standards, but at least the tea and coffee were very good. There is basically no WiFi (or very very slow) and no alcohol is served here due to local laws. The tents are a highlight though, with comfortable beds, (good) aircon and a fan, and a decent bathroom. The staff are very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. Overall Hornbill provides a good base from where to explore the surrounding areas and attractions.

Such a beautiful, serene escape. The nature is in abundance, the views are stunning everywhere you look, the staff can't do enough to help and are so wonderful and the food is delicious. We had such a fantastic time cycling around the local area, kayaking, we took a day trip to Munnar - all organised by the fabulous staff. Just incredible. So sad to leave.

Excellent place with lovely views of the river from the rooms. Good food and helpful staff. No Bar. One downside - the WiFi is rubbish. They really should do something to improve that. The beds are comfortable and clean, but no hot water, not that you really need it.

Wonderful, relaxing spot. Staff is warm, friendly, helpful. Food is delicious. Tents are comfy, air conditioned with lovely views. Kayaking is fantastic. Bikes are available, both regular and e-bikes. And, of course, the birds! Highly recommend a few days here.

I loved my time here. A beautiful and calm place to explore and enjoy. And the staff makes this place wonderful; they are warm, attentive, sweet, generous, welcoming with warm smiles and very friendly; Kerala style. We arrived on bikes and were immediately impressed by the location and the welcome we received. Our riverside accommodation was a luxury tent with air con, hot shower and a comfortable bed. Meals were provided a short walk away in the big open-air marquee and were delicious. Our highlight was an early evening kayak with a guide on the river, it was so beautiful with the Western Ghats as a backdrop.

If you are into places with beautiful surroundings, birdsong and few people, this place is a must. Staff are friendly, views of the river relaxing and the general a**osphere is one of escape. There are no frills, and you have to make your own bed and bring your own beer, but that's fine by us. The food is not fancy, but it is tastey. The masala chai is amongst the best we've had in India, made with a special mix and not drops! If you're into kayaks or push bikes, they're available...though its too hot to do much after 10H00 and before 16H00. Indian pita are in the "camp-site" and not hard to see. Altogether a find, and if we ever come back to Kerala, we will be back.
