Very nicely decorated room with theme. Very impressive room inferior design and very cost. Aircon is provided and the room is very nice. Definitely come again. Close to town center and restaurants. Good price and good stay.

5 star prices for a 2 star hotel my room smells of damp and is so hot you need a fan on all night socket for kettle doesn’t work Tv didn’t work taps and shower have hot water only brushing your teeth with hot water is no fun staff are good management terrible everything feels dirty will be requesting a refund or a transfer to another hotel can’t stay another night

Quirky hotel, reception people were nice, room looked good on the face of it but we were soon disappointed. Shower temperate regulator broken and stuck on scorching. It was not possible to have a shower for our stay. Kettle had exposed wires, kettle socket didn't work, phone didnt work, bathroom lights flashed on and off when switch was on.

Quirky deco, nice spacious room, friendly helpful staff. Really enjoyed our stay here.

Extremely dull small room with shoddy cheap interior. Terrible smells coming from drains made room almost unbearable to sit in . Food was poor & the bar was a joke . 3 gins Gordon’s & beefeater. Not one malt whisky. How can you rate this hotel with 4 stars, it’s a total joke . Easily one of the worst places I have stayed

I think this might be my first one bubble hotel review after hundreds of stays. Staff here just do not care about guests. On arrival we were shown to our room but quickly found the bathroom did not supply cold water - just boiling hot. We tried to call reception but the phone was broken. I went down and told the front desk and was told it was an old house and I needed to run the tap longer. They did not care about the phone. Running the tap in the bathroom did get cold after 3 minutes. We found out the following morning that even after steaming up the bathroom for over 5 minutes there was only boiling hot water in the shower so we left without a shower. Our room was stifling hot and windows did not open. There was an AC control but despite running from 4pm to the following morning the room temperature never changed. There was a fan in the cupboard and we always bring earplugs so we did manage to sleep on top of the duvet. The main areas of the hotel are cool so it seems the staff keep themselves comfortable. Finally there was almost no toilet paper and no spare. The phone was still broken so that morning we checked out and found somewhere else. There were no COVID protocols in evidence, and not one member of staff wore a mask. Despite a relaxing of the law, hospitality should be more careful and all the restaurants and cafes we visited in Durham certainly were. I came very close the night before to booking another hotel. We stayed at the townhouse last night in the penthouse suite… we could not fault our stay, we were gutted we only booked one night. We booked on the blue light discount they had to offer. The staff are so accommodating, from organise the stay through messenger and organising treats for my partner birthday, they were really helpful. The two girls that greeted us on desk (one was trainee) could not fault them as well as the housekeeper we met on us departing, Very chatty and bubbly I’d book a stay again to see them. I love the decor of the place, loved how quirky it is. The penthouse suite was amazing, and the small touches topped it off. The best night sleep we had in a while waking up feeling refreshed. We are currently looking at staying again come summer as the place is self is lovely will definitely be telling everyone to go there well worth every penny. Thank you again for making our stay special .

Amazing night stay to celebrate finding out the gender of our baby. Stayed in the azzuri room with the april offer that month, great decor and friendly staff. Stayed for breakfast the next day and couldn't fault it. Would recommend and stay again.

Could not fault this hotel at all! Absolutely beautiful and unique. Staff couldn't do enough for you to ensure you have a lovely stay... Beds are so comfortable I didn't want to get up and leave.
